    Abstract: A process for reducing in a liquid phase a solid compound selected from the oxide, hydroxide or salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of gold, palladium, iridium, osmium, copper, silver, nickel, cobalt, lead and cadmium comprises heating said solid compound suspended in a polyol and thereafter isolating the formed metallic precipitate.
