  • Patent number: 6032591
Abstract: A refuse recycling system which recycles municipal waste as energy, includes a shredder for shredding the waste and removing rejects via a feed pipe to a circulating fluidized bed reactor, the reactor producing flue gases. The reactor includes a side dense fluidized bed situated on the wall of the reactor which is provided with the feed pipe, the side dense fluidized bed extracting non-fluidizable heavy elements and transporting them to a coarse-particle sorter apparatus via an extraction duct disposed at a base of the side dense fluidized bed. At least a portion of the rejects from the shredder is fed into the coarse-particle sorter apparatus. The coarse-particle sorter apparatus cools the elements and extracts non-fluidizable inert matter from the elements, the remaining matter being fed back into the reactor. A module for recovering energy and for treating the flue gases output by said reactor is connected downstream from the reactor.

  • Patent number: 5996512
Abstract: An apparatus for recycling municipal waste as energy includes a shredder for shredding the waste, and removing rejects, the rejects from the shredder being sorted into a first stream of inert matter that is substantially unpolluted with organic matter and into a second stream of inert matter that is substantially polluted with either organic matter or with combustible heavy elements; a first outlet for removing the second stream of inert matter; a circulating fluidized bed reactor for receiving the shredded waste and producing gases with solid particles therein; a cyclone for separating out the solid particles and receiving the gases output by the reactor; a recuperator boiler into which the gases output by the cyclone are discharged and which is provided with a first set of heat exchangers, the boiler including a dust-filtering hopper; a second outlet for removing the solid particles from the dust-filtering hopper; a second set of heat exchangers disposed in a chamber into which the gases are fed after trans

  • Patent number: 4679755
Abstract: A support or fixing device for pipework having walls which are thin relative to its diameter and subjected to large temperature variations and to radial forces. The device comprises: (a) support cradles (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) having an internal profile whose radius of curvature is close to that of the pipework; (b) a rigid half-collar (7) disposed around and spaced from the periphery of the pipework, and having some of the cradles fixed thereto; (c) two arms (5A, 5B) hinged at their ends to the half-collar and having others of the cradles fixed thereto; and (d) a flexible arm clamping device (9) resiliently applying the cradles against the pipework, independently of expansions and radial forces applied to the pipework.

  • Patent number: 4640480
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for supporting a pipe (1) which has a low thickness in relation to its diameter and which is subjected to considerable variations in temperature and to a radial traction stress of a known direction. It comprises:(a) support cradles (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) having an internal profile with a curve radius close to that of the pipe;(b) a rigid half-collar (7) arranged around the pipe and separated from its periphery and on which certain of the cradles are fixed;(c) two articulated arms (5A, 5B) on the ends of the half-collar and on which the other cradles are fixed; and(d) a connection device (9A, 9B, 10, 11) formed by two other arms (9A, 9B) which are articulated on the one hand on the above-mentioned arms and on the other hand on pivot pin (10) on which is exerted the radial traction stress applying tightening on the pipe under the force of radial traction (F) applied to the pipe and independently of the expansion of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4469236
Abstract: A support device for a heavy horizontal storage vessel having convex ends and walls which are thin in relation to its diameter comprises, at each end of the vessel, a short annular stiffener (8) coaxial with the end. It is of sufficient diameter to distribute and reduce stresses to a low value. A flexible semi-circular steel plate member (9) cradles the stiffener with limited clearance (11). A rigid annular plate member (10) is disposed in substantially the same vertical plane as the stiffener (8) and semi-circular plate member (9) to form a cradle for plate member (9) over part of its periphery. The radius of curvature of the annular plate member (10) is sufficiently greater than that of the semi-circular flexible plate member (9) to permit differential radial expansion. The rigid annular plate member is thus axially and laterally connected to the stiffener by appropriate structure.

  • Patent number: 4423770
Abstract: Device for reducing thermal stresses on a heat exchanger between two counterflow-circulating liquid alkali metal circuits comprising an annular cylindrical nest of tubes surrounding an axial pipe for the introduction of the liquid alkali metal to be heated and extended by an annular pipe for discharging the heated liquid alkali metal, wherein it comprises in the said annular pipe for discharging the heated liquid alkali metal means for radially homogenizing the temperature of the alkali metal, said means comprising pipes which, at the outlet of the nest of tubes, tap a part of the relatively hotter alkali metal flowing along the outer periphery of the annular pipe to bring it into its flow area closest to the axis.
