Patent number: 6913177Abstract: Blanking device in a cutting machine for plate elements in a sheet, such as a paper, cardboard or plastic sheet, which had been previously cut into several blanks that are maintained together in the sheet by a number of nicks: a lower tool, an upper tool movable toward the lower tool, a plurality of telescopic pressing devices below the upper tool and outward of the blanks, and plurality of punches aimed to remove blanks from the sheet during vertical motion of punches. The punches each have a suction cup linked to a vacuum or pressure source able to generate a change in the air pressure inside of the suction cup by a distribution network. The suction cups hold the blanks starting before separation of the blanks from the punches. A method to bring the device into operation in the above sequence of operations.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2003Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: Bobst SAInventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Publication number: 20050070420Abstract: A pressing unit with a pressure rail interdependent with at least two parallel rods, the rods mounted for axially sliding between two end positions, through a horizontal upper support, via a connecting device. An elastic pull-back spring arranged between the support and the pressure rail likely maintains the rail in its most wide apart position from the horizontal upper support, defined by stops interdependent of the rods. The connecting device comprises a bearing surface against the upper side of the upper support and at least two deformable claws symmetrically arranged with respect to the longitudinal axis of the rod passage. The claws pass through two related passages through the support and the claws each comprise a bearing surface against the lower surface of the support.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2004Publication date: March 31, 2005Inventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Publication number: 20040126183Abstract: Assembly member for parallel flat tools. Untapped openings pass through the tools. The assembly member includes a cylindrical unit with a rotation axis, against which unit are arranged at least two wings enabling to solidify and to tighten the flat tools through the openings by means of rotation of less than 360° of the assembly member around its rotation axis, without adding any substance nor adhesive element or another mechanical fastening piece.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2003Publication date: July 1, 2004Applicant: Bobst SAInventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Publication number: 20040035304Abstract: Centering member of a plane tool useful for a packaging production machine, comprising a boss projecting from a base for allowing permanent fastening of the tool in at least one aperture in one of the sides of the plane tool without adding any mechanical fastening element and without adding any material or any adhesive element. The shape of the boss and of its head are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2003Publication date: February 26, 2004Applicant: Bobst SAInventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Publication number: 20030211925Abstract: Supporting, fastening and reinforcing members for a plane tool with apertures which is used in a waste stripping station of a diecutting press. The reinforcing members are interfitted into a stripping board of the stripping station easily without the use of any mechanical parts, such as rivets, screws, bolts or adhesives and serve to rigidify and strengthen the stripping board against breaking or bending during the stripping operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2003Publication date: November 13, 2003Applicant: Bobst S.A.Inventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Patent number: 6149764Abstract: The disclosed positioning and securing device for plate-shaped tools (3) for the hot pressure transfer of portions of metallic film webs onto a substrate, comprises a supporting and heating plate (1) for the tools (3), covered by a plurality of apertures (2) adapted to receive securement means for the tools (3). This device includes positioning means for the tools (3) comprising, on the one hand, a template (9) covering the supporting and heating plate (1), provided with first distinctive marks for position each of the tools (3) on said plate (1). The latter itself includes removable positioning and securement means for the template (9). On the other hand, the positioning means includes second markers (12), provided on the upper surface of each of the tools (3), the positions of which correspond to the positions of the respective first marks of said template (9). A method for producing said template (9) is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Bobst S.A.Inventors: Jean-Pierre Steiner, Pierre Bignens

Patent number: 5543675Abstract: Each of the two brush leafs of an electric motor comprises a first resiliently flexible conductive section, attached to a terminal, and an additional resiliently flexible section extending an acute angle to the first section. The first and second ends of the first section are disposed on opposite sides of a contact portion of the additional section which engages a commutator forming part of the motor. It is therefore possible to increase the length of the first section to thereby provide robust brush leafs which are nevertheless capable of flexing sufficiently to accommodate discrepancies in the mounting of the brush leaf means and in concentricity of the commutator.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1993Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Johnson Electric S.AInventor: Jean-Pierre Steiner

Patent number: 4901641Abstract: A printing press unit for a printing press system which has a main frame with an impression roller mounted for rotation on a first axis characterized by a sub-frame being mounted for pivotal movement around a second axis and supporting a printing cylinder which will be moved into contact with the web passing between the impression roll and the cylinder. The sub-frame can be laterally adjusted along the second axis and the second axis can be skewed as necessary for purposes of registration of the web during a printing process. For a rotogravure printing, the ink applicator and doctor blade holder are both releasably mounted on positoning assemblies which are provided on the sub-frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Assignee: Bobst SAInventors: Jean-Pierre Steiner, Thomas Byro
