    Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a processor operatively connected to a connector, a power supply circuit, a discharge circuit, a first switch, and a second switch, and configured to detect a connection of an external electronic device through the connector in a state in which the discharge circuit is activated, perform first discharge of discharging a current of the connected external electronic device using the discharge circuit for a designated time based on the connection of the external electronic device, control the first switch to cut off the electrical connection between the discharge circuit and the ground after performing the first discharge, control the second switch to electrically connect the connector and power supply circuit to supply designated power to the external electronic device through the connector, and perform communication with the external electronic device based on a communication connection with the external electronic device.
