  • Patent number: 11156838
Abstract: The techniques introduced here enable a display system, such as an HMD device, to generate and display to a user a holographic structure matching a real-world structure. In some embodiments vertices, edges and planes of the holographic schematics are generated via the use of a peripheral tool that is positioned by a user. In other embodiments, other user input indicates the bounds of the holographic schematic. In response to user action, a holographic schematic is made to appear including corresponding real-world size measurements. The corresponding measurements are used to develop a holographic structure that integrates with the holographic schematic.

  • Patent number: 10692287
Abstract: A technique is described herein for placing a virtual object within any type of modified-reality environment. The technique involves receiving the user's specification of plural values in plural stages. The plural values collectively define an object display state. The technique places the virtual object in the modified-reality environment in accordance with the object display state. Overall, the technique allows the user to place the virtual object in the modified-reality environment with high precision and low ambiguity by virtue of its guided piecemeal specification of the object display state.
    Type: Grant

Inventors: David Anthony Evans, Jason Bradley Scott, Jedd Chevrier, John Copic, Jonathan Gustav Paulovich, Timothy James Schutz
  • Patent number: 10620779
Abstract: Technology is proposed to enable navigating a holographic image. A moving object, such as a hand, is tracked and a gesture is recognized. In response to recognizing the gesture, a virtual shape is created at the location of the recognized gesture. The shape has at least one dimension. The holographic image is moved based on current position of the moving object with respect to the virtual shape.
