  • Patent number: 8036691
Abstract: A first signal containing first data multiplied by a first weight factor is transmitted from a first radio station to a first terminal. The first weight factor is calculated taking into account a second weight factor to be used by a second radio station for transmission of a second signal containing the first data multiplied by the second weight factor, such that simultaneous reception of both the first signal and the second signal at the first terminal will cause the first data to be substantially cancelled. Further, the first weight vector is calculated taking into account first and second channel state information received from the first terminal.

  • Publication number: 20100046659
Abstract: A method for increasing the SINR of a data transmission channel is presented. A mobile network element, in applying a first method, performs a first estimate of the channel's SINR by changing a first characteristic of a signal transmitted through the channel. The mobile network element, in applying a further method, performs a further estimate of the channel's SINR by changing at least one further signal characteristic of the signal. The mobile network element selects which method yields a higher estimate of the channel's SINR. The mobile network element transmits a feedback signal to at least one affiliated base network element indicating the selected method that yields the highest channel SINR. Applying the selected method, the affiliated base network element changes the corresponding characteristic of a signal it transmits, thereby increasing the channel's SINR.

  • Patent number: 7613244
Abstract: In transmitting channel quality information (CQI) by a mobile station (MS) in a communication system, the mobile station receives from a base station (BS) information of an allocation of a CQI channel and information as to a modulation to be performed on the CQI. CQI channel signal is generated based on the CQI and the modulation information, where the CQI corresponds to a measured channel state. The CQI channel signal is transmitted to the BS over the allocated CQI channel.

  • Publication number: 20050099939
Abstract: A radio communication system divides an entire frequency band into a plurality of subcarrier bands, forms a symbol from signals on the subcarrier bands, forms a frame from a plurality of symbols, transmits a pilot signal within symbols in a predetermined position of the frame, and transmits a data signal within symbols other than the symbols for transmitting the pilot signal. A transmitter generates the pilot signal, performs an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) on the pilot signal by applying an IFFT size which is less than an IFFT size applied to the data signal, and transmits the IFFT-processed reference signal to a receiver.
