  • Patent number: 9754564
Abstract: An improved stringed instrument pick having a two-piece configuration including a holding device having a finger hole associated therewith and a pick member selectively engageable with the holding device, the pick member having a first playing surface and a second playing surface joined together at a joinder edge so as to form a V-shaped configuration. The first and second playing surfaces include first and second prong members respectively for engaging corresponding slots associated with the holding device. The pick member is selectively engageable with the holding device such that a user can use a differently angled or sized pick member with the same holding device depending upon the particular stringed instrument being played and/or to achieve a particular style or sound. As such, the present pick provides multiple playing surfaces which can be utilized in a wide variety of different ways to play a particular stringed instrument.

  • Publication number: 20160192810
Abstract: A free floating spirally shaped mixing blade for use in a mixing chamber for mixing various substances including an elongated blade member formed so as to extend from a first end portion to a second end portion in a spiral configuration, the blade member being positionable so as to be wholly contained within a mixing chamber and free floating therein when the mixing chamber is agitated. In various embodiments, the mixing blade may include a slit positioned at an intermediate location along the length of the blade member dividing the blade member into first and second blade portions, the slit extending partially along the width of the elongated blade, and/or a plurality of openings extending through the blade member for increasing turbulence when the blade is agitated within a mixing chamber. In some embodiments, the mixing blade may take the form of an elliptical helix or a circular helix.

  • Patent number: 9155626
Abstract: System, including apparatus, methods, and kits, for replacement of the proximal end of a radial bone with a prosthesis having a floating articular member. The prosthesis may include a head portion connected or connectable to a stem portion. While the stem portion remains operatively connected to the head portion, the head portion and/or an articular member thereof may be permitted to float in position relative to the stem portion. The head portion/articular member may float transversely (e.g., translationally) and/or rotationally with respect to the stem portion. The articular member may articulate with a humeral bone or both a humeral bone and an ulnar bone. In some embodiments, the head portion may include a fixed member for articulation with an ulnar bone and a floating member for articulation with a humeral bone.

  • Patent number: 8276601
Abstract: A cleaning vessel (10) comprising a main chamber (12) into which can be inserted a part (34) for cleaning and one or more secondary chambers (14). An opening (30) is provided in the main chamber (12) associated with each secondary chamber (14) such that the main chamber (12) is in fluid communication with each secondary chamber (14). Rotation of the part (34) causes rotational flow of fluid in the main chamber (12) and each opening (30) is oriented such that material entrained in the rotating fluid passes from the main chamber (12) into the associated secondary chamber (14).

  • Patent number: 8230995
Abstract: A substantially toroidal container for coiled vegetation trimmer line has a front shell and a rear shell capable of bonding at the center with heat and pressure, radio frequency, ultrasonic welding, adhesive, or attachment mechanisms. The bonding of the shells leaves a separation between the outer edges of the shells. The separation is nonlinear around the circumference of the container, so that a user can access the trimmer line, but the trimmer line cannot uncoil and spill out of the container. The separation is preferably defined by a series of offset uniform teeth on the outer edges of the shells. One or more teeth may be removed, providing a line aperture through which the end of the trimmer line extends out of the container. Male and female indices on each shell are used to align the teeth during packaging.

  • Patent number: 8135349
Abstract: An apparatus and method for interference cancellation in a multi-antenna system are provided. A transmission apparatus includes a channel identifier, a scheduler, an interference canceller, and a transmitter. The channel identifier identifies channel information of each of a plurality of receiving ends located in a service area and neighbor cell interference information on each receiving end. The scheduler selects at least one receiving end. The interference canceller precodes transmitted signals in order to cancel interference between receiving ends located in the same cell and neighbor cell interference. The transmitter transmits the precoded transmitted signals to the selected at least one receiving end.

  • Patent number: 7278002
Abstract: A software routine that writes downloaded updated operating system software over existing application code to flash memory of a cable modem in an inverted arrangement. If the download process is interrupted before the update can be verified, a pointer still points to the existing code to facilitate update-interruption recovery. After verifying a successful update, a new pointer is generated that points to the updated operating system. Then, updated application code can be downloaded and stored in the flash memory over the old operating system code. Thus, each time an update is performed, the location of the operating system within the flash memory with respect to the location of the application code is inverted. This allows the size of flash memory to be reduced, as only one copy of the operating system and application code must be stored, while retaining capability to recovery from an incomplete download.

  • Patent number: 7031435
Abstract: A method uses circuitry in a data interface that provides telephony service over a high-speed network to detect the presence of a secondary source of VBH battery voltage on a tip-ring system. If a detected source other than the data interface is impressing battery voltage on the tip-ring system, the circuitry disconnects the data interface's battery source and produces a message that another source is VBH. The determination that another source is present may be based on a threshold value to account for noise. The message is used to produce an alarm at a user interface device. The alarm may be a light indication mounted on the data interface. The alarm may also be a web page that is retrieved from a memory device and displayed on a PC, a PDA or the data interface. The alarm may be provided locally and remotely to a provider's server.

  • Publication number: 20050057573
Abstract: Methods and systems for transparent depth sorting are described. In accordance with one embodiment, multiple depth buffers are utilized to sort depth data associated with multiple transparent pixels that overlie one another. The sorting of the depth data enables identification of an individual transparent pixel that lies closest to an associated opaque pixel. With the closest individual transparent pixel being identified, the transparency effect of the identified pixel relative to the associated opaque pixel is computed. If additional overlying transparent pixels remain, a next closest transparent pixel relative to the opaque pixel is identified and, for the next closest pixel, the transparency effect is computed relative to the transparency effect that was just computed.
