  • Patent number: 9628484
Abstract: An authentication service running on a processing device receives a request from a local area network (LAN) to authenticate a computing device (and/or a user of the computing device) that has attempted to access the LAN, the request comprising a first identifier (ID) that uniquely identifies the computing device. The authentication service determines whether to authenticate the computing device based on the first ID, information from a third party data set, and an authentication criterion of the LAN. Responsive to determining that the information from the third party data set satisfies the authentication criterion, the authentication service notifies the LAN that the computing device is authenticated.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 18, 2017
Inventors: Michael Edward Perrone, II, Jeff Bryan Lanza, Joseph Anthony Indriolo

  • Patent number: 8214594
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for managing cache allocation between a primary storage and a secondary storage. The system includes a device with a primary storage, secondary storage, and cache manager. The method includes downloading a web resource, storing the web resource in the primary storage, determining the amount of time required to download the web resource, and determining the amount of time required to retrieve the web resource from the secondary storage. If the amount of time required to retrieve the web resource from the secondary storage is less than the amount of time required to download the web resource, the method stores the web resource in the secondary storage. Additionally, web resources may be moved from the secondary storage to the primary storage based on their likelihood of being utilized.
