  • Publication number: 20140237366
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to operating a user interface on an augmented reality computing device comprising a see-through display system. For example, one disclosed embodiment includes receiving a user input selecting an object in a field of view of the see-through display system, determining a first group of commands currently operable based on one or more of an identification of the selected object and a state of the object, and presenting the first group of commands to a user. The method may further include receiving a command from the first group of commands, changing the state of the selected object from a first state to a second state in response to the command, determining a second group of commands based on the second state, where the second group of commands is different than the first group of commands, and presenting the second group of commands to the user.

  • Publication number: 20130208014
Abstract: A blocking image generating system including a head-mounted display device having an opacity layer and related methods are disclosed. A method may include receiving a virtual image to be presented by display optics in the head-mounted display device. Lighting information and an eye-position parameter may be received from an optical sensor system in the head-mounted display device. A blocking image may be generated in the opacity layer of the head-mounted display device based on the lighting information and the virtual image. The location of the blocking image in the opacity layer may be adjusted based on the eye-position parameter.

  • Patent number: 7944066
Abstract: An improved system for generating electricity by harnessing natural gravitational forces, wherein a plurality of vessels are placed at the bottom of a deep enclosed chamber of liquid. The vessels are secured around tracking cables which extend within the chamber and are held in place by the air lock. Each vessel also has a retention system. The vessels collect released pressurized air through bottom openings and when the air lock is released, the vessels rush to the surface of the chamber along tracking cables. When the vessels are released, the collective force of their release rotates a crankshaft to generate electricity. The process will employ a systematic transfer of air within multiple tanks and collection areas with the use of varying pressure relief valves. This will allow air to be transferred through out the system without being pumped from an external energy source.

  • Patent number: 7863570
Abstract: A compact, wide field of view, infrared imaging system with two Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) and, optionally, an additional one Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) band, has a single, color corrected lens element embedded within the detector/dewar assembly. The lens element has two aspherical surface profiles and utilizes a holographic optical element to manipulate and detect bands of energy that are harmonic components of each other. The infrared imaging system simplifies and shrinks the MWIR/LWIR imager while maintaining all of the required functionality. An exemplary infrared imaging apparatus performs at an F-stop (F/#) of at least 1.4 with a square field of view of 90×90 degrees.

  • Patent number: 7791765
Abstract: A method for optical dithering and a dither device comprising a mounting structure, a refractive optic, an optic mounting structure surrounding the optic, and one or more linear drive motors. Four linear coils are preferably employed together with a control system operating in open loop mode. The dither device and method provides double resolution to a detector receiving output therefrom. The invention can operate in a single axis or in two axes.

  • Publication number: 20090043341
Abstract: An osteosynthetic plate assembly and a method of installing the osteosynthetic plate assembly is disclosed. The osteosynthetic plate assembly comprises a dynamic extension plate having a first end portion for connection to a first vertebrae, a second end portion for connection to a second vertebrae, and a dynamic flexible portion extending between the first and second end portions. The dynamic extension plate is configured for coupling with a cervical fusion plate. A method of installing the dynamic extension plate to adjacent vertebrae comprises the steps of engaging a connector of the dynamic extension plate with a coupling of a cervical fusion plate, and mounting the dynamic extension plate to the adjacent vertebrae.

  • Patent number: 5772522
Abstract: A method of and system for analyzing golf swings is described. A three dimensional android computer model of a human as well as a parametric dynamic computer model of a golf club are generated and combined. In addition, the three dimensional motions of a person swinging a golf club are recorded using cameras that track reflective markers placed at various locations on the person. A computer processes the marker path data to calculate three dimensional angular motions of the body segments of the person and the golf club which is then used to kinematically drive the joints of the android model to effect superposition of the recorded golf swing on the android model and golf club model. Kinetic data derived from the analysis of the model may in turn be used to dynamically drive the joints of the android model to also superimpose the recorded swing on the models. The results are used, among other things, to study the biomechanics of the golfer and the performance of the golf club.
