    Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to liquid compositions that are suitable to provide absorbent materials (e.g., hydrogel coating compositions), and methods of preparing the compositions and absorbent materials thereof. The compositions can include a first polymer type including one or more acrylate polymer, a second polymer type including one or more non-acrylate polymer, a crosslinking agent, and water. The compositions are suitable to provide an absorbent material having a water absorption capacity of at least about 50 grams of water per gram of absorbent material.
