Abstract: The invention is directed toward methods and apparatus for reclaiming a layer of plastic material from a laminated sheet. The method includes the steps of providing a laminated sheet comprising a first layer of plastic material and a second layer of substrate material bonded to the first layer along an interface plane, providing a cutting tool having a cutting edge extending in a parting plane, positioning the laminated sheet so that the parting plane is parallel to the interface plane and does not intersect the second layer, cutting the laminated sheet along the parting plane, directing a cut portion of the first layer away from a remaining portion of the laminated sheet, and collecting the cut portion of the first layer for reuse. The separating apparatus includes a feed roller for advancing the laminated sheet, a guide device for guiding the laminated sheet, and a hoop knife for cutting the laminated sheet.
