Abstract: Certain embodiments of the methods and compositions of matter disclosed herein relate to: “simultaneous” control of rodents and at least one insect pest (e.g., cockroach, ant, tick) using the same bait; control of ticks by orally administering to mammals a diet composition comprising fipronil; enhancing insecticide efficacy through use of a diet composition that comprises a Generation-I rodenticide and an insecticide; use of imidacloprid in a diet composition orally administerable to mammals in an uncontrolled setting; and use of at least one insecticide to enhance the efficacy of a rodenticide.

Abstract: Methods are described for controlling larvae, subadult and adult ticks and fleas on mammals, e.g. rodents. The methods involve feeding a diet composition to mammals in the wild containing a systemic insecticide or insect growth regulator. Optionally, the compositions can also contain a rodenticide.

Abstract: A method is described for controlling the spread of Lyme disease spirochete from rodents which have been infected. The method involves orally administering to the rodents a composition which includes an antibiotic, e.g. chloramphenicol, thiamphenicol, florfenicol, or a salt or derivative thereof, or mixtures of antibiotics, capable of killing the spirochete. Bait compositions are described which include an antibiotic. The bait compositions may be solid or liquid.
