    Abstract: A portable battery charger with a rechargeable back-up battery is disclosed. The portable charger comprises a first electrical connector for coupling the charger to an external power source, a second electrical connector for coupling the charger to a battery of a portable electronic device, a power converter, a back-up battery, and charging management circuitry. The portable charger is able to charge the battery of the portable electronic device from either its back-up battery or the external power source.
