  • MIL-STD-1553 interface device having concurrent remote terminal and monitor terminal operation

    Abstract: An integrated circuit ("IC") implementing the three MIL-STD-1553 defined functions of bus controller, remote terminal, and monitor terminal has a register based architecture that allows for concurrent remote terminal and monitor terminal operation. The IC may communicate on the bus in the remote terminal mode of operation for only one specific address. For a plurality of other addresses, the IC may monitor the bus in the monitor terminal mode of operation. While concurrently configured, the IC is precluded from monitoring its own remote terminal address, and the remote terminal has priority over the monitor terminal for message processing.
