  • Publication number: 20130132163
Abstract: In computer-implemented methods, systems and program products for estimating financial modeling outcomes, financial data are segmented into a number of categories and scenario data for a set of model scenarios are processed to obtain an estimated model outcome distribution. The categories are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive of the financial data while the model may be developed by learning from the data. Multiple model tests are performed with samples of the financial data until a cumulative model outcome distribution is within a pre-determined acceptable tolerance limit from a distribution of fully assessed model outcomes obtainable by performing a single test of the scenarios using all of the financial data.

  • Patent number: 8410317
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol from terephthalic acid. Terephthalic acid is esterified with (4-methylcyclohexyl)methanol and the terephthalate ester hydrogenated to 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol in a 2-stage process. The (4-methylcyclohexyl)methanol that is formed during the hydrogenation step is recycled to the esterification reaction. After removal of the (4-methylcyclohexyl)methanol from the crude hydrogenation product, the 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol product can be recovered and purified by a phase separation and distillation.

  • Publication number: 20130072297
Abstract: Systems and methods for calibration and biasing are described herein. In one example, a method for determining a playing height of a user is described. The method includes receiving an identification of a first corner of a display screen from the user by associating a first position of a tracked object with the first corner using image data from a capture device, receiving an identification of a second corner of the display screen from the user by associating a second position of the tracked object with the second corner using image data from the capture device, and triangulating between the first and second corners and the tracked object to define a range of movement made by the user. The tracked object is held by the user. The method further includes defining a height at which the tracked object is held by the user based on the range of movement.

  • Publication number: 20120303408
Abstract: An automated method, computer program product and system for using artificial intelligence based cognitive learning methods to identify, measure and manage risks for a commercial enterprise on a continual basis. The elements of value, external factors, components of value and categories of value of the enterprise are analyzed and modeled using predictive models that are developed by learning from the data associated with said enterprise. Scenarios of both normal and extreme situations are also developed by learning from the data. The scenarios are then used to drive simulations of the predictive models. The output from these simulations are then used to measure a plurality of risks and complete optimization analyses that identify the optimal mix of risk reduction activities for the enterprise. The optimal mix of risk reduction activities is then presented to the user for optional editing, rejection or acceptance.

  • Patent number: 8027592
Abstract: An IR signaling generator and method divides the functionality of generation between software and hardware to provide a flexible way to generate IR signals, such as remote control signals. The hardware includes a clock generator for generating a carrier clock signal and a data clock signal, a buffer memory that is loaded with instructions representing an encoded data sequence; a control circuit, and a transmitter including a modulator. Each instruction contains an on/off value that is to be modulated with the data clock signal and a pulse duration value that indicates how long the on/off value is to modulate the clock signal. Using the data clock signal, the control circuit measures the amount of time the on/off value modulates the clock signal and causes the buffer to advance to the next instruction in the sequence when the measured amount of time is equal to the pulse duration value.
