Abstract: A novel treatment for bacterial infections and related disorders derived from extracts of pepper, ginger, and related plant species containing vanillyl (FIG. 3), and piperidine (FIG. 7) ring structures typical of the pungent principals found in pepper, and ginger. The pepper extracts, which also possess antifungal properties are demonstrated in the topical treatment of bacterial infections affecting the skin eyes, and ears.
