  • Patent number: 8497800
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention pertain to methods and systems for communicating information to a roving positioning device. In one embodiment, a wireless communication device, a non-cellular wireless communication device, and a computer networking device for forwarding data packets are coupled with a bus. A request originating from a roving positioning device for a location-specific position data is received via the non-cellular wireless communication device. A controller coupled with the bus causes the request to be forwarded via the wireless communication device.

  • Patent number: 7613468
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention pertain to methods and systems for communicating information to a roving positioning device. In one embodiment, a cellular communication device, a non-cellular wireless communication device, and a computer networking device for forwarding data packets are coupled with a bus. A request originating from a roving positioning device for a location-specific position correction is received via the non-cellular wireless communication device. A controller coupled with the bus causes the request to be forwarded via the cellular communication device.

  • Patent number: 7423742
Abstract: The invention relates to a surveying system, comprising at least one total station unit (210,220), and at least one target (201,203), said targets having wireless communication means, each unit provided with a unique wireless communication address for wireless communication, the wireless communication to be used to activate a selected total station (210,220) to identify and measure the location of a chosen target (201,203) in relation to a relative reference system, each target having identification means to be used by the total station for identification of the chosen target, each total station having identifying means used for identification of the chosen target to be measured. The invention also relates to a target and a method for surveying using the total stations and the targets according to the system.

  • Patent number: 7398153
Abstract: The present invention is a portable motion-activated position reporting device. In one embodiment, a controller is coupled with an interrogator component, a position determining component, a wireless communications component, and an initiating component. In one embodiment, the initiating component detects motion of the position reporting device and generates a signal to the controller indicating the motion. The controller, in response to the signal, activates the interrogator component and the position reporting device.
