  • Publication number: 20160117916
Abstract: An alarm system monitors a home, business, or other property for fire, burglary, break-in, or other event that may warrant raising an alarm. The alarm system is configured to detect tampering, whereby someone intentionally impedes the ability of the system to raise an alarm or otherwise interferes the system's operation. An alarm panel of the alarm system communicates with a server. At certain times, the alarm system transmits a series of packets to the server using a unidirectional protocol. Upon receipt of one of the packets, the server alternates between monitoring for an incoming packet and ignoring any incoming packets. Detection of an incoming packet during a monitoring time period causes the server to transition to ignoring packets for a sleep period of time. Completion of the sleep period of time causes the server to return to monitoring for the monitoring period of time.

  • Patent number: 9237474
Abstract: The techniques described herein present opportunities for service providers and/or network providers to optimize the Quality of User Experience (QoE) for data services by determining, using a broader network-based approach, the root cause of problems causing a service degradation. To determine the root cause of the problems, the techniques may collect different trace files from multiple different nodes in the telecommunications network. Each trace file includes a log of trace identifiers for numerous different data packets that have been generated, received, transmitted, relayed, and/or routed via the node in the telecommunications network, and each trace file log entry may be associated with a timestamp. Once collected, the techniques may correlate the different trace files from the multiple different nodes to identify, using a broader network-based analysis, service optimization opportunities.

  • Patent number: 9199344
Abstract: An offshore rig for production or drilling of hydrocarbons from a wellbore at sea utilizes a blowout preventer milling assembly. The offshore rig is used for milling gasket surfaces of a blowout preventer at sea either using a portable controller on the offshore rig or a client device remote to the offshore rig. The client device is connected to the portable controller via a network to control the movement of a pneumatic spindle. The pneumatic spindle mills the gasket surface of the blowout preventer. During the milling, the blowout preventer is still attached to the casing or tubulars over the well location.

  • Patent number: 9174286
Abstract: A method for repairing a blowout preventer using a blowout preventer milling assembly while in an operational configuration at sea. The blowout preventer is lifted while secured to casing and the blowout preventer is locked to the platform of a rig. The opening doors of a gasket chamber of a blowout preventer have a gasket surface for resurfacing. A pair of legs slides into grooves in the gasket chamber. A support frame is attached to the pair of legs using a plurality of spring loaded mounting assemblies. A pneumatic spindle with a calibration head inserts into a spindle holder of the support frame. Each actuator of the support frame is connected to a portable controller. The portable controller calibrates a location of the pneumatic spindle over the gasket surface for resurfacing using the portable controller.

  • Publication number: 20140160941
Abstract: The techniques described herein involve analysis of communication data included in trace file(s) of device(s) involved in a communication. These trace file(s) may each include data associated with multiple layers of a communication protocol stack of a respective device or data associated with a single such layer. The techniques may further involve one or more of determination of performance metrics associated with data at a specific layer of a specific device, correlation of the data between layers of a device, or correlation of data across multiple device(s) involved in the communication. The performance metrics or correlated data may then be analyzed based on thresholds or models to determine whether the performance metrics or correlated data exhibits a degraded quality of user experience. Also or instead, graphic or textual representations of the performance metrics or correlated data may be generated.

  • Publication number: 20130036675
Abstract: A device for selectively blocking unauthorized reverse viewing to the inside of a room through a door peephole comprising a main body, enclosure plate, actuating rod and rotating disc. The actuating rod and rotating disc include a first and a second locking means, respectively, which engage each other. When the actuating rod is moved in a first direction, the rotating disc rotates to align the opening of the rotating disc with the opening of the enclosure plate to allow visual access. When the actuating rod is moved in a second direction, the opening of the rotating disc will misalign the opening of the enclosure plate to block visual access. The device remains either in an open or in a closed position until a person inside the room moves the actuating rod. The device functions without an actuating rod if a user manually turns the rotating disc with his finger.
