Patent number: 9937422Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media for adjusting acoustics in real time are provided herein. An acoustic adjustment system can include a processor, a memory, a voxelizer, and a pathing analyzer. The voxelizer can be configured to generate a voxel-based representation of a three-dimensional (3D) interactive media environment. The voxel-based representation includes a number of individual voxels that together represent the environment. The voxelizer can also be configured to identify a plurality of blocked voxels that intersect visual elements of the 3D interactive media environment. The pathing analyzer can be configured to determine, for the clear voxels, audio path information representing a path of clear voxels between the voxel and the location of the listener. The audio path information can be used to adjust sounds emitted by sound emitters in the media environment to realistically reflect the distances the sound travels to reach the listener.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2015Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Robert Lucas Ridihalgh, Jeffrey Ballard

Publication number: 20160279017Abstract: The herein disclosed technology provides a roller therapy device including a ball and a dual-component casing with components that mate together on opposite sides of the ball to rotatably secure the ball. In one implementation, the dual-component casing includes a cap portion with a cavity sized and shaped to receive the ball and an annular portion that can be selectably attached to and detached from a mouth of the cavity after the ball is positioned in the cavity. When connected in such manner, the ball protrudes through and aperture in the annular portion and is freely rotatable relative to the dual-component casing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2016Publication date: September 29, 2016Inventors: Matthew Hyder, Jeffrey Ballard

Patent number: 9043960Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for connecting two segments of commercial landscape edging. Typically, landscape edging has a cylindrical portion that sits on or above the ground and a panel that inserts into the ground. A connector can be used to link together pieces of edging to form a continuous edge. In embodiments, a connector includes a body that can be inserted into the cylindrical portion of two pieces of landscape edging. The connector can include a ridge and a tab that extends from the body, such that when the body is inserted into the cylindrical portion of edging, the tab is adjacent to the panels of edging. One or more fasteners can be used to attach the edging panels to the tab of the connector, joining two pieces of edging via the connector.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2013Date of Patent: June 2, 2015Inventor: Jeffrey Ballard
