    Abstract: A trim panel includes a one-piece molded member having a molded-in edge wrap along at least one edge. The molded-in edge wrap is formed by a process wherein a cover stock material (102) is provided with an extension (104), the extension is moved by a mold (306) between a first position and a second position, and a resin is injected into the mold (300) to form the substrate (210) and to secure the extension in the second position.

    Abstract: A trim panel includes a body portion and an extension (110). The extension is provided at a periphery of the body portion for securing the trim panel to the vehicle. The extension is formed of a cover stock (104) material and a substrate (102). The body portion and the extension (110) are formed during the same molding operation. According to one exemplary embodiment, the cover stock material (104) is positioned into a mold (200), the mold (200) is reconfigured to bend an edge of the cover stock material (104) inward, and a resin is injected into the mold (200) to form the substrate.

    Abstract: A multi-material or multi-color molded article and a method of making the same is provided. The molded article comprises an integrated molded member having at least a first portion made of a first resin and a second portion made of a second resin. The integrated molded member may have additional portions as well. The method comprises providing a mold having a first mold section (24), a second mold section (22), and a retractor member (26), injecting a first resin (18) into a first cavity defined by the first mold section (24), the second mold section (22), and the retractor member (26), moving the retractor member (26) to define a second cavity (23) wherein the second cavity (23) is defined by the first mold section (24), the second mold section (22), the retractor member (26), and the first resin (18), and injecting a second resin (20) into the second cavity (23).
