Patent number: 7261237Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. Deposited items may be provided to the machine in envelopes which are first passed to a user from an envelope storage area (132) in the machine through a transport (124) and which are presented to the user through an opening (244). An envelope storage and dispensing device (134) is operative to assure that only a single envelope is delivered to the user. A user may thereafter include deposit items in the dispensed envelope. The deposited items are passed through the opening (244) and are deposited in a deposit-holding container (128). The deposited items may be marked with indicia corresponding to the transaction or properties of the deposited item where the envelope originally dispensed to the user for holding the deposited item.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2004Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Sean Haney, Jeffery M. Publication number: 20070170244Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. Deposited items can be provided to the machine in envelopes passed out of the machine to a user. An empty envelope in an envelope holding container (132) is passed through a transport (124) and presented to the user through an opening (244). The user can insert deposit items in the presented envelope. The envelope containing inserted deposited items can then be placed by the user back through the opening (244), causing it to be stored in a deposit-holding container (128). The machine also includes a printer that can print transaction indicia on a deposited envelope. A wiper comprising a resilient squeegee is able to remove excess ink from nozzles of the printer.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2007Publication date: July 26, 2007Applicant: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Sean Haney, Jeffery Enright, Jeffrey Eastman, Franklin Theriault, R. Publication number: 20070034683Abstract: An ATM extends a stack of currency notes through a cash outlet opening for presentation to a customer. Each dispensed stack, including those of different sizes, is centered in the opening. The centering of a stack is based on its thickness. The thickness can be based on the quantity of notes in the stack. Different sized stacks require different amounts of movement to be centered. A stack is centered in the opening to facilitate grasping thereof by the customer.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2006Publication date: February 15, 2007Applicant: Diebold Self-Service SystemsInventors: Jeffrey Eastman, H. Patent number: 7103958Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. The automated banking machine includes a shaft and a roller mounted on the shaft. The roller includes a body having a cylindrical opening therethrough. One or more radially inward, axially outward extending deformable fingers adjacent a first end of the opening are adapted to engage an annular recess on the shaft. An annular flat surface adjacent the second end of the opening is adapted to abut a radially outward extending annular step surface on the shaft. The deformable fingers and the flat surface cooperate with the annular recess and the step surface, respectively, to axially position the roller on the shaft. A continuous belt member may be in operative engagement with the roller. A method includes extending the shaft into the cylindrical opening, and moving the shaft relative to the cylindrical opening to engage at least one deformable finger in the annular recess.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold IncorporatedInventors: William D. Patent number: 6981638Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a user interface (12) including an opening (20). Users of the machine deliver individual sheets and stacks of sheets to and from the machine through the opening. Stacks of sheets may include sheets such as notes, checks or other documents. Stacks input to the machine may include mixtures of various types of sheets. The machine operates to receive notes, process checks and perform other operations. Notes received in the machine may be recycled and dispensed to other users. Checks processed by the machine may be imaged by an imaging device, cancelled and stored in the machine or alternatively returned to a user. Documents produced by the machine such as receipts, checks or money orders as well as notes dispensed from the machine are assembled into a stack within the machine and delivered from the machine through the opening.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2004Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignee: Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: H. Patent number: 6948655Abstract: An ATM currency cassette includes a currency-low indicator mechanism. The indicator mechanism can be held in a locked position during cassette handling and transport. The indicator mechanism can be automatically locked during removal of the cassette from an ATM; automatically unlocked during opening of the cassette lid; automatically locked during closing of the cassette lid; and automatically unlocked during insertion of the cassette into an ATM. With the lid open, the cassette can be replenished with currency. The locking and unlocking can be controlled by both a cassette tambour door and the cassette lid. The locking arrangement can reduce service calls due to the currency-low indicator mechanism tripping prematurely.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2004Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Diebold Self-Service SystemsInventors: Jon Washington, Eric VanKeulen, Jeffrey Eastman

Patent number: 6913192Abstract: An ATM currency cassette with a currency overload prevention arrangement. The cassette includes a currency stack push plate having a flexible arm. The arm becomes flexed by currency pressing against it due to an overloaded condition. The cassette lid includes a rib. The rib engages the flexed arm during closing of the lid to prevent full closure of the lid. With the lid prevented from closure, the currency loader can become aware of the overloaded situation and remove excess currency from the cassette.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2004Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Jon Washington, Eric VanKeulen, H.
