Tables of a Cassandra cluster node are translated in parallel to JSON format using Cassandra SSTableDump and the table rows are parsed to provide data rows corresponding to the data in each table row. Each row of data is padded with a predictable pattern of bits such that the data row has a length corresponding to the selected fixed segment size and has boundary locations that correspond to multiple of the selected segment size. Since each row of data starts on a segment boundary, duplicate rows of data will be identified wherever they move within a table.

Electric meter data is used to determine a confidence level that the house is occupied so that demand response messages are not sent to unoccupied houses. Demand response messages are associated with a profile. For an initial deployment of a demand response program, a variety of message profiles are tested to study the effectiveness of the communication. After each demand response event, the profile of each message sent to each user is evaluated to learn more effective approaches for future messages. Over time, the learning of the effectiveness of the message profile provides a more precise and complete behavioral model of the user to assess how to motivate energy savings. Continually updating the behavioral model of the user responses to demand response messages increases the likelihood to engage users to participate in demand response events.

An infeed conveyor successively feeds the preparation ply sections to a butt splicing machine that joins the ends of the two preparation ply sections to form a butt joint. A gum strip applier receives the continuous preparation ply from an outfeed conveyor and applies a gum strip over the butt joint. A method is provided for forming a continuous preparation ply by first automatically forming a butt joint, and thereafter automatically placing a gum strip on the butt joint.

In one form of the present disclosure, the butt weld includes: two or more abutting structural steel components beveled on faying surfaces on one side of the components to form a suitably shaped fusion root weld groove and unbeveled on faying surfaces on the opposite side of the components and interconnected with a first fusion root weld on the beveled side of the components and a second friction stir weld on the unbeveled side of the components, wherein the first fusion root weld has a width ranging from 7 mm to 30 mm, a penetration depth ranging from 2 mm to 20 mm, and an overfill ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm, and wherein the stir zone of the second friction stir weld penetrates the first fusion root weld.
