Publication number: 20210343941Abstract: Devices, systems, and techniques are provided for improved OVJP deposition using a shutter disposed within the OVJP print head, between the print head inlet and the nozzle outlets. An OVJP print head as disclosed includes an inlet for organic material entrained in a carrier gas, a micronozzle array outlet, and a shutter disposed in the gas flow path between the inlet and the micronozzle array outlet. The shutter allows for rapid cutoff of carrier gas flow through the print head with extremely low latency.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2021Publication date: November 4, 2021Inventors: Stephen R. FORREST, Jeffrey A. HOROWITZ

Publication number: 20180007488Abstract: Embodiments are directed to sound source rendering in a virtual reality (VR) system that executes an immersive virtual environment including at least one virtual sound source. A motion sensor to produces a measurement of a motion of the user, and an imaging sensor is used to produce an indication of at least one physical feature of the user relevant to sound perception. A sound rendering engine determines and applies a head-related transfer function (HRTF) based on the at least one physical feature of the user, and effects a source direction of sound from the at least one virtual sound source according to a frame of reference of the user based on the motion of the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2016Publication date: January 4, 2018Inventors: Ronald Jeffrey Horowitz, Wing Chris Ho

Patent number: 8238595Abstract: A speaker component for a portable electronic device which accepts a receiver and redirects the sound emitted from the receiver toward the speaker hole in the device housing is disclosed. The receiver may be oriented such that sound is directed away from the speaker hole to reduce the footprint of the receiver within the device housing. A channel of the speaker component may redirect or port the sound to the speaker hole. Accordingly, embodiments provide more flexibility for positioning of the speaker hole and the receiver with respect to the device housing. The speaker component may also have a self-contained back volume chamber adjoining the receiver which does not include portions of the device housing or other components of the portable electronic device, thereby improving the sound quality of the sound emitted from the receiver and providing more flexibility as to the size and shape of the back volume chamber.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2009Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Ronald Jeffrey Horowitz, Michael Francisco, Giancarlo Anthony Giustina

Publication number: 20120166414Abstract: Systems and methods for relevance scoring are provided. Traditional scoring models use word frequency and placement to determine relevance. In contrast to these models, embodiments of the present invention provide cluster-based relevance scoring and tagging. Some embodiments use various cluster mappings and vector space models to generate relevance scores. In addition, the cluster mappings can be updated overtime to reflect a change in topic clustering.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2012Publication date: June 28, 2012Applicant: Ultra Unilimited Corporation (dba Publish)Inventors: Scott Decker, Matthew Kumin, Jeffrey Horowitz, Christopher Oliver

Publication number: 20060259348Abstract: The subject invention provides a first method for estimating the number of subscribers to a service. The first method calculates the number of subscribers based on a rate of additional subscribers and a rate of departing subscribers, where the rate of departing subscribers is recursively depending on the number of subscribers. The subject invention also provides second and third methods for estimating an amount of income attributable to the subscribers of the service. The second method assigns different contributions to the total income based on the additional subscribers and departing subscribers. The third method segments the number of subscribers into subscriber groups, then assigns different contributions tot the total income based on each subscriber group. A computer based system is also disclosed for performing the methods.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2006Publication date: November 16, 2006Applicant: Youbet.com, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey Horowitz

Publication number: 20060035712Abstract: A system and method for placing a wager on events is disclosed. The system includes a web server connected to the Internet, a database in communication with the web server storing codes corresponding to at least one criterion associated with an event for an interactive voice response (IVR) system and generating a string of codes corresponding to a wager, and a graphical user interface. The graphical user interface is accessible from a client workstation separate from the web server and communicates with the web server to establish the wager. The graphical user interface initiates a call from the client workstation to transmit the string of code to the IVR system using voice-over internet protocols.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2005Publication date: February 16, 2006Applicant: Youbet.com, Inc.Inventors: Tim Eastman, Joseph Hasson, Jeffrey Horowitz, Armen Jamkotchian, David Marshall

Publication number: 20050059495Abstract: A system and method for relaying race information related to a plurality of races, such as horse or greyhound races, typically held at racetracks. The system includes a computer system that receives and stores current race information from the plurality of races. The system also includes a remote device coupled to the computer system. A user operating the remote device can view race information and place wagers on the races. The method begins by the computer system sending initial race information to the remote device. As current race information is received from the racetracks, the computer system compares current race information with the initial race information sent to the remote device. The computer system then sends updated race information to the remote device. This updated race information includes only race information that has changed since the initial race information was sent from the computer system to the remote device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2004Publication date: March 17, 2005Applicant: Youbet.com, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Horowitz, Henry Stapp, Ruben Pegorer, Jeff Franklin
