  • Publication number: 20230373150
Abstract: A no solid bed extruder screw for processing a material to a molten state has a body with a helical thread having pushing and trailing surfaces, he body extending longitudinally between feed and discharge ends. A channel for receiving the material to be processed is formed between the body outer surface and an outer diameter of the thread bounded by the pushing surface and the trailing surface. A volume of the channel decreases in a plurality of revolutions of the thread in a direction from the feed end to the discharge end. A channel depth between the pushing surface and the trailing surface decreases for a first portion of the channel toward the feed end and increases for a second portion of the channel toward the discharge end. At least one of the channel portions has a constant width and includes varying width sub-channels.

  • Patent number: 11586431
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and processes to perform self-dependent upgrades of Java Runtime Environments (JREs). A request to update a plugin to a new version with a new configuration that includes a location to download a new upgrader-executable is received from a platform computing device at an endpoint computing device. The plugin is uploaded to the new version. The new upgrader-executable that includes an executable with an executable table executed by the plugin is downloaded from the location. The executable is used to halt execution of a JRE application (e.g., a Collector) and download JRE files required for the upgrade. The JRE application (e.g., the Collector) is then re-started with the new configuration, which can be rolled back if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

  • Patent number: 10825095
Abstract: A system and method for evaluating an insurance applicant as part of an underwriting process to determine one or more appropriate terms of life or other insurance coverage, such as premiums. A processing element employing a neural network is trained to correlate aspects of appearance and/or voice with personal and/or health-related characteristic. A database of images and/or voice recordings of individuals with known personal and/or health-related characteristics is provided for this purpose. The processing element is then provided with an image and/or voice recording of the insurance applicant. The image may be an otherwise non-diagnostic image, such as an ordinary “selfie.

  • Publication number: 20200250757
Abstract: The present invention concerns methods of providing feedback to a user based on the amount of risk underlying an options contract. The invention uses a display screen, with a selection mechanism, to allow the user to interface directly the with parameters of a potential options, while providing feedback, typically in the form of color changes, vibration, or sounds, to the user while the risk of the options contract increases. Evaluating the underlying risk of an options contract is a difficult process for the individual investor who lacks the advanced mathematical models of institutional investors. The present invention consolidates the factors into a simplified tool that analyzes the factors and communicates risk to the user through the feedback mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 10406722
Abstract: A plastic melt machine includes a feed screw rotatably mounted in a barrel and driven in rotation about a longitudinal screw axis of the feed screw by a screw drive to plasticize material, and an apparatus for driving a device independently of the feed screw. The device can be any rotatable device associated with the feed screw wherein the device is rotatable about a drive axis and is in fluid communication with the barrel to receive the plasticized material. The drive axis is one of parallel to and offset from the screw axis and extending at an angle relative to the screw axis. A drive shaft couples the device to the device drive for rotating the device independently of the rotation of the feed screw by the screw drive.

  • Publication number: 20150273753
Abstract: An extruder screw comprises a core extending longitudinally from a feed end to a discharge end thereof. The core has a helical primary thread formed thereon. At least one discontinuity is fog lied in the primary thread to divide the primary thread into a plurality of primary thread portions spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction of the core. The at least one discontinuity formed in the primary thread may be formed adjacent a downstream end of a compression section of the screw or spanning a transition from the compression section to a section of the screw disposed downstream of the compression section. The discontinuity in the primary thread militates against the problem of solids wedging by allowing any solid materials being processed by the extruder screw to expand and break apart prior to the core reaching a maximum outer diameter.
