  • Publication number: 20050030473
Abstract: The invention includes methods and apparatus for measuring (Intraocular Pressure) IOP and (Corneal Thickness) CT for diagnosis and for monitoring a condition of health of an eye. The apparatus uses measurements selected from at least one of IOP and a CT, and a plurality of IOP measurements to deduce an interpretive result indicative of a condition of an eye. In another embodiment, the apparatus measures a relationship between an applanated area of variable size and a selected one of an applied force and an applied pressure. The relationship is used to deduce an interpretive result indicative of the condition of an eye. The result can be displayed to a practitioner. The practitioner uses the result to determine a course of treatment as necessary, and to monitor the effect of a course of treatment on the state of health of the eye over time.

  • Patent number: 6758423
Abstract: A system and method of storing and reading parameter data associated with an electrostatic spray gun power supply is provided. The method includes, for example, the steps of reading parameter data associated with a power supply for a particular spray gun from a database and storing the parameter data in a memory device associated with the spray gun. The parameter data may include the drive current parameter information, for example, and additionally, spray gun type identification information. The memory device is preferably integral with the spray gun or a cable connector that connects to the spray gun. The data or information can be in the form of analog or digital information. After reading the spray gun power supply parameter data, the spray gun controller appropriately operates and monitors the spray gun to ensure that the spray gun power supply is performing properly.

  • Publication number: 20020088397
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling, organizing, and viewing a plurality of electrostatic spray gun operating parameters from a centralized control panel are provided. In this regard, a master control panel is provided that can be shared by all the guns in the system. Each of the guns has an assigned gun control subpanel in the gun control area. Each subpanel includes a selector switch which can be used to monitor and control the gun associated with that subpanel on the master control panel. Each of the subpanels also has a limited display such as a bar graph which can be used to show the electrostatic performance of the guns. The subpanel displays are configured in a tight cluster so that the operator can easily simultaneously monitor the performance of all the guns in the system to identify any guns which are not performing properly.

  • Patent number: 5972417
Abstract: An apparatus for use in electrostatically applying coating material to an object includes a nozzle which directs a flow of coating material toward the object. A power supply unit provides an electric field to electrostatically charge the coating material. Control circuitry is provided to monitor the operating efficiency of the power supply unit and to provide an output signal when there is an impending failure of the power supply unit. The control circuitry monitors the relationship between an input current to the power supply unit and an output current from the power supply unit. When the relationship between the input current to the power supply unit and the output current from the power supply unit is outside of a predetermined range, the control circuitry is effective to provide an output signal to notify an operator that there is an impending power supply unit failure.

  • Patent number: 5938126
Abstract: A powder spray coating system includes a power source and an electrical supply line connected to the power source. A spray gun sprays powder in a spray pattern onto a part. The spray gun includes an electrode which charges powder as the powder is dispensed from the gun toward the part. The electrode is connected to the electrical supply line. A first current sensing device is located in the electrical supply line measuring gun current between the power source and the electrode. An ion collector or ABI probe is mounted with the gun for collecting free ions produced by the electrode. The collector has a forward portion positioned near the spray pattern and is spaced from the electrode. The collector is connected to a ground line. A second current sensing device is located in the ground line measuring back current between the ion collector and ground. A controller is connected between the power source and the electrode to control the gun current.

  • Patent number: 5566042
Abstract: An improved power supply for an electrostatic spray gun device having a voltage multiplier circuit adjusts to variations in the output load conditions of the multiplier circuit and dynamically modifies the operational loadline of the multiplier circuit in order to maintain optimal operating conditions for the spray gun device notwithstanding output load variations. The power supply utilizes a loadline manipulation circuit coupled to a feedback circuit that monitors the output load, and the manipulation circuit, in response to a feedback signal from the feedback circuit that is proportional to the output load, varies the input voltage level to the multiplier circuit to modify the loadline of the power supply in response to varying load conditions. The manipulator means of the power supply has memory means to store a variety of external commands which will control the manipulation means and a user interface to enter the external commands into the memory.
