  • Patent number: 9450338
Abstract: A high speed connector assembly includes two interengaging connector halves each held in respective first and second interengaging connector housings. Each of the connector halves includes a plurality of conductive contacts arranged in at least two linear arrangements and at least partially surrounded by a conductive grounding shield. The connector housings are cylindrical and engage each other in a circular fashion, while the connectors engage each other in a linear, axial fashion. The connector housings provide a sealed environment for the connectors.

  • Patent number: 9083119
Abstract: A connector is disclosed for use in automotive applications, which has improved retention capabilities. The connector includes a body portion that supports an array of conductive terminals. An outer housing is molded over the body portion and the terminal termination area to form an exterior protective housing of the connector. The protective housing of the connector is provided with a pair of engagement arms formed on the exterior of the protective housing. The arms are connected to the housing at their opposite ends and are formed with an intervening space between them and the housing. The space is configured to provide an outward bias force on the engagement arms such that when the connector is inserted into a receiving frame, the engagement arms are biased outwardly to press against sidewalls of the receiving frame and retain the connector in place therein without the need for additional latches or O-rings.

  • Publication number: 20140305689
Abstract: A plug for a shielding cage is disclosed and the plug has a unitary body that may be molded as a single piece. The plug has a plug body portion and a handle portion that projects away from the plug body portion. The plug body portion has a plurality of spring arms that extend away from a base member and the spring arms are arranged in pairs and each spring arm is biased outwardly to exert an outward force on the walls of the shielding cage into which it is inserted. The plug is formed from an EMI absorbing material so as to eliminate the need for a separate EMI gasket.

  • Patent number: 6468091
Abstract: An electrical distribution center has a circuit board interposed between an upper housing and a lower housing. The upper housing has a panel provided with a universal cavity design by a multiplicity of terminal-receiving slots. The slots are arranged in laterally spaced parallel rows with the slots in each row in equally spaced apart relation to one another. Raised rails on the top side of the panel are parallel to the rows of slots and respectively occupy the spaces between the rows of slots. The circuit board has terminals extending into selected slots through the bottom side of the panel. The slots are adapted to receive the terminals of relays and fuses inserted through the top side of the panel for contact with the terminals of the circuit board. When the terminals of a relay are inserted in any of the slots, the relay body will be supported on rails on opposite sides of those slots.

  • Patent number: 5354211
Abstract: An electrically insulated connector housing has a cable receiving end and a mating end and a plurality of spaced cavities extending longitudinally therethrough for receiving terminals crimped onto electrical cables which are positioned within the cavities. The connector assembly also includes an alignment overlay overlying the mating end of the connector housing and which is adhesively secured thereto. The overlay has openings therethrough which are arranged in a plurality of predetermined patterns and which are aligned with certain ones of the terminal cavities in the housing. The housing block has projections extending from the mating end at certain locations and the alignment overlay has notches at certain locations for receiving the projections to ensure that the overlay can only be adhesively secured to the housing if properly oriented relative to the housing block.
