  • Patent number: 11253922
Abstract: A method for large-scale, real-time simultaneous additive and subtractive manufacturing is described. The apparatus used in the method includes a build unit and a machining mechanism that are attached to a positioning mechanism, a rotating platform, and a rotary encoder attached to the rotating platform. The method involves rotating the build platform; determining the rotational speed; growing the object and the build wall through repetitive cycles of moving the build unit(s) over and substantially parallel to multiple build areas within the build platform to deposit a layer of powder at each build area, leveling the powder, and irradiating the powder to form a fused additive layer at each build area; machining the object being manufactured; and cutting and removing the build wall. The irradiation parameters are calibrated based on the determined rotational speed.

  • Publication number: 20180345379
Abstract: An apparatus for large-scale, real-time simultaneous additive and subtractive manufacturing is described. The build unit(s) of the apparatus includes a powder delivery mechanism, a powder recoating mechanism and an irradiation beam directing mechanism. The build unit and the machining mechanism are attached to a positioning mechanism that provides them with movement. The build platform of the apparatus is rotating and preferably vertically stationary. Embodiments of the build unit that further includes a gas-flow mechanism and the build platform having a dynamically grown wall are also described. A manufacturing method using the apparatus involves rotating the build platform; repetitive cycles of moving the build unit(s) to deposit a powder and irradiating the powder to form a fused additive layer; and machining the object being manufactured.

  • Publication number: 20130325890
Abstract: Persisted data queries are leveraged to generate complex event processing rules for application to a real-time data stream. The method generates a persisted data query based on defined criteria; validates the persisted data query using stored persisted data; and converts the validated persisted data query to a CEP rule. The method may utilize common database querying tools such as XQuery to generate the persisted data query. The persisted data query is executed against historical unprocessed event data stored as persisted data. The results of the persisted data query are analyzed to determine if the persisted data query produces the desired results. The persisted data query is converted to a CEP rule when the desired results are produced.

  • Patent number: 6899317
Abstract: A test port and bleed valve is combined in a unitary main body of a device. A split core test plug is positioned within a hollow valve stem. The seal at the bottom of the valve stem engages a valve seat to provide a releasable airtight seal. At the top of the valve stem, rotating the stem so that it axially moves toward and away from the valve seat to open and close the valve to bleed gas from the vessel or piping system. A bleed port is located through the sidewall of the main body of the device so that it is in fluid communication with the working medium of the vessel or piping. The top of the stem includes a removable cap and retainer to cover an aperture in the top of the stem through which a test probe can be inserted.

  • Publication number: 20050051751
Abstract: A test port and bleed valve is combined in a unitary main body of a device that includes means for threaded engagement to a manifold or other suitable fitting exposing it to a working medium of a vessel or piping. A split core test plug is positioned within a hollow valve stem which is axially movable between open and closed positions within the main body of the device. The seal at the bottom of the valve stem engages a valve seat to provide a releasable airtight seal. At the top of the valve stem, means are provided for rotating the stem so that it axially moves toward and away from the valve seat to open and close the valve to bleed gas from the vessel or piping system. A bleed port is located through the sidewall of the main body of the device so that it is in fluid communication with the working medium of the vessel or piping when the valve is in its open position.
