  • Publication number: 20180103573
Abstract: A lock assembly is provided for a row planter unit to maintain the unit in a raised transport position and to relieve stress on the hydraulic system of the planter unit. The lock assembly includes a lock arm pivotally mounted to the bracket assembly of the row planter unit for selective receipt in a notch or detent on the mounting plate or mast of the bracket assembly so as to retain the row unit in the raised transport position. The lock arm can be disengaged from the bracket assembly notch or detent, such that the planter unit can be lowered to the field use position.

  • Publication number: 20170303464
Abstract: Adjustable gauge wheels are provided on a row unit planter adjacent the opening disc. The wheels are adjustable laterally for proper spacing adjacent the discs. The camber of the gauge wheels relative to discs is also adjustable. The lateral adjustment is accomplished via a wear bushing and pivot bushing extending into the wear bushing for each gauge wheel. A grease zerk is provided on the end of each pivot bushing to supply grease to the inside of the adjustment wear bushing. The camber adjustment is accomplished via a slot in the row planter frame and bolts extending into arms on a pivotal member.

  • Publication number: 20170261034
Abstract: Tapered bearings are provided for use on each end of each link arm on an agricultural seed row planter mounted on a toolbar. The bearing is a low friction material and greaseless. The tapered design of the bearings allows the bearings to be adjusted as wear occurs, by tightening the link arm mounting nut which extends through the tapered bearing. The tapered bearing has an increased life and reduced maintenance, as compared to prior art roller bearings.

  • Publication number: 20170258002
Abstract: A closing wheel assembly is provided for a seed row planter unit behind the gauge wheel assembly and furrow disks of the planter unit. The closing wheel assembly includes a coupler with a pair of closing wheels mounted thereon. A single pin removably extends through the coupler and through the gauge wheel assembly to detachably mount the closing wheel assembly to the gauge wheel assembly. Different closing wheel assemblies can be quickly mounted on the row unit, depending upon the type of seed being planted. The closing wheels are laterally adjustable via a rotatable threaded bushing so as to be centered behind the furrow disks.

  • Publication number: 20170071123
Abstract: The latch assembly for the wings of a folding tool bar includes catches on each wing wing and a pair of pivotal latch arms on the tool bar tongue. An actuator pivots the latch arms between an unlatched position disengaged from the wing catches to a latched position engaging the wing catches so as to retain the wings in a transport position. In the latching and unlatching method, the latch arms are pivoted simultaneously in opposite directions by an actuator to capture and release the opposing wings of the tool bar.

  • Patent number: 9554505
Abstract: A pneumatic manifold is provided for a folding toolbar for use with seed planters having pneumatic seed metering devices. The manifold is formed within the tubular center section and opposite folding wings of the toolbar. A flexible coupler is provided at each wing hinge juncture to provide air flow through the toolbar wings and the center section, while allowing the toolbar to fold and unfold between the transport and field positions.

  • Patent number: 9174804
Abstract: A hood assembly is provided for a conveyor having a housing with an inlet opening, a belt or auger for transporting particulate material through the housing from the inlet end to the outlet end. The hood assembly includes a hood pivotally mounted to the housing for movement between a closed position substantially closing the inlet end and an open position substantially exposing the inlet end. When the hood is opened, the inlet end of the conveyor housing can be visually inspected and physically cleaned to remove particulate material remnants remaining in the inlet end after the conveyor is shut off. A hopper is provided on the hood to facilitate introduction of material into the conveyor.
