  • Publication number: 20060282521
Abstract: Systems and methods for remote file access are disclosed. According to an embodiment, a local agent polls a server for a task request at a polling interval scheduled by a schedule timer in accordance with a set of local agent and remote client preferences. The local agent is responsible for executing a task from the task request and causing a file to be uploaded to the server. The local agent uses a task processor for polling a server, a schedule timer for controlling polling, and one or more protocol stacks, such as TCP/IP and SOAP, for communicating with the server. The local agent can also interface with a MAPI database for message delivery.

  • Publication number: 20060272648
Abstract: A sexual aid that provides ultra realistic sensation of skin contact by utilizing one or more edges of a thin membrane as the primary contact with the skin of the user. Both a simulated male genitalia and a simulated female genitalia version of the invention is described here. The simulated female genitalia is chiefly comprised of a tubular rubber membrane stretched over a support ring to form two flat stretched circular membranes each with a stretchable center hole. The simulated male genitalia is chiefly comprised of multiple circular discs mounted at their center and sequentially along a central support rod. Each disc is tapered to transition to a thin circular membrane edge at its circumference. In both gender versions, primary contact with the user is with the separate membrane edges that create a unique inward or outward pressure against the user that is operationally separated from the other membrane edges.

  • Publication number: 20060271382
Abstract: The present invention provides an entity projection in a client. The entity projection is an encapsulation of data, from an owning service, and residing on a consumer of that service. The entity projection provides an abstraction that conforms to an entity programming model on the consumer. The entity projection may illustratively include a subset of the properties of an entity in the owning service, the subset being only those properties required by the entity and those properties desired by the consumer.

  • Publication number: 20060271384
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for registering a service with an aggregation service, and storing data within the aggregate service. The process of registration is performed by a service explicitly notifying or being discovered by the aggregation service. In one embodiment there are four steps to the registration process. The first step is determining existence of a service and there are two ways this can happen, discovery and explicit notification. The second step of the process is metadata retrieval. Once the existence of the service is determined, the aggregation service attempts to retrieve relevant metadata about the service. The third step is setting up how the aggregation service is populated. If it is to be populated via a push synchronization, entity create, update, and delete event subscriptions are created with the service so it will push its data to the aggregation service.

  • Publication number: 20060242400
Abstract: A method and system for remotely booting a plurality of server blades in a BLADECENTER® and for updating each blade without the need for an administrator to access each blade via a separate user identification number and corresponding password. A temporary virtual local area network is created to provide an out-of-band communication channel between a management module and the plurality of server blades. The management module receives and saves the original boot sequence for each server blade and alters each boot sequence such that each server blade begins with a network boot. After receiving an initial transmission over the network containing server blade boot instructions and storing the boot instructions in a temporary boot server, subsequent server blade boot requests from the network are intercepted and the stored boot instructions are re-routed from the temporary boot server to each of the remaining blades in the blade server thus removing the need for repeated boot packet transmission over the network.

  • Publication number: 20060233944
Abstract: A method for producing a zirconia-layered orthopedic implant component includes depositing zirconium onto the orthopedic implant component, thereby forming a zirconium-layered component, and converting at least a portion of the zirconium into a substantially monoclinic zirconia surface layer unaccompanied by a substantial underlying ?-phase. A method for producing a zirconia-layered orthopedic implant component includes depositing zirconium onto the orthopedic implant component by ion bombardment and deposition in a vacuum to form a zirconium-layered component including an intermix zone at least 1000 ? thick and a zirconium layer about 3-5 ?m thick, and heat treating the zirconium-layered component at a temperature of about 500-600° C. in an atmosphere containing oxygen.

  • Publication number: 20060217098
Abstract: A system for reducing power consumption of a local oscillator (LO) chain is disclosed. Embodiments of the system for reducing power consumption of a local oscillator chain include adjusting a bias control signal to the local oscillator depending on a noise parameter of the local oscillator. • Publication number: 20060097727
Abstract: A micromechanical device may include one or more piezoresistive elements whose electrical resistance changes in response to externally or internally induced strain. The present invention leverages the piezoresistive properties of such devices to sense the positional state of the device. A sensing circuit may be integrated into the device that senses an electrical resistance of at least a portion of the micromechanical device and provides information regarding the positional state of the micromechanical device. The micromechanical device may be a compliant device that includes relatively flexible members such as mechanical beams or ribbons. The positional states may be continuous positional states (such as the position of an actuator) or discreet positional states (such as the positional state of a bistable memory device). In certain embodiments, the micromechanical device is a threshold detector that latches to a particular stable configuration when an applied force exceeds a selected value.

  • Publication number: 20060016148
Abstract: A framing member incorporates a series of web slots along a portion of the member that are expanded through the process of manufacture. The expansion of the web slots creates voids and metal web elements in the webbed portion of the member, which can be a stud. The voids created during the expansion process can become the voids for running wiring, plumbing and heating ducts. The web elements can be designed to minimize thermal transmission from the exterior to the interior of a wall including the member, as well as provide adequate structure properties required from the structural member. The expanded slots allow the part to enlarge without increasing the amount of raw material and therefore substantially reducing the cost to manufacture.

  • Publication number: 20050233388
Abstract: The ability of mononuclear leukocytes to respond to standard stimuli is measured based on the expression of activation antigens on mononuclear cell subclasses. In a preferred embodiment, a sample of mononuclear leukocytes is cultured for up to 24 hours with a standard stimulus known to activate such cells. After culturing, aliquots of the cells are incubated with fluorophore-conjugated monoclonal antibodies to antigenic determinants of a particular mononuclear subclass and different fluorophore-conjugated monoclonal antibodies to particular activation antigens. The incubated aliquots are analyzed on a flow cytofluorometer, whereby each cell is illuminated with a particular light (e.g. argon ion laser), which detects and measures forward light scatter, orthogonal light scatter and two different wavelengths of light emitted from the fluorophores.

  • Publication number: 20050111423
Abstract: A subscriber unit (100) determines that there is information to transmit, and requests an amount of bandwidth. Upon receipt of the request for bandwidth from the subscriber unit, the fixed network equipment (FNE; 102) determines whether the requested bandwidth is available. If yes, the FNE dynamically determines at least a first timer value to be used by the subscriber unit to detect a loss of granted bandwidth, and transmits a reservation grant to the subscriber unit granting the request. The reservation grant comprises the at least first timer value. Upon receipt of the reservation grant, the subscriber unit extracts the at least first timer value from the reservation grant and uses the at least first timer value to detect loss of granted bandwidth.
