  • Publication number: 20040122447
Abstract: A brush debridement tip for use with hand-held wound debridement devices. The brush debridement tip of the present invention provides concurrent irrigation and suction to the area to be debrided and includes a plurality of bristles extending therefrom. The plurality of bristles have varying lengths to advantageously allow for mechanical debridement of, e.g., resected or otherwise formed having irregular shapes. The brush debridement tip further includes an elongate aperture allowing passage of a fan spray of irrigation fluid therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20030130613
Abstract: A debridement extension including a proximal end and a distal end, with the proximal end being adapted for connection to both an irrigation source and a suction source. The debridement extension includes a fitting adjacent the proximal end which includes both an irrigation port and a suction port. An inner cannula and an outer cannula are both attached to the fitting of the debridement extension and are, respectively, in fluid communication with the irrigation port and the suction port. A debridement tip is affixed to the distal end of the debridement extension and is independently in fluid communication with both the irrigation path and the suction path formed by the inner and outer cannulas, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6120174
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mixing bone cement which produces bone cement essentially free of entrained air. The apparatus includes a cartridge having two telescoping cylinders. The outer cylinder receives a cap thereon which hermetically seals the cartridge. The cap includes an outlet port in which a break-away agitator is installed and a port for connection of a vacuum pump. In use, a desired vacuum pressure is drawn on the cartridge and the inner cylinder is allowed to be drawn into the outer cylinder while the vacuum is being drawn, whereupon the inner cylinder automatically stops moving relative to the outer cylinder when the desired vacuum pressure is reached. Mixing of the bone cement is then performed under the partial vacuum thereby created. The agitator paddles provide a scraping action against both inner cylinder walls of the telescoping cylinders thereby improving mixing.
