  • Patent number: 10443655
Abstract: A combination bearing and seal assembly includes a tubular outer body connectable with an outer member and having first and second axial ends, opposing inner and outer surfaces and a bearing outer raceway on the outer body inner surface. A tubular inner body is disposed within an outer body bore and is disposeable about and coupleable with the rotatable member. The inner body has inner and outer surfaces, opposing outer and inner axial ends, the inner axial end providing a generally radial seal contact surface, and a bearing inner raceway on the inner body outer surface. Rolling elements disposed between the outer and inner raceways rotatably couple the outer and inner bodies and form a bearing. An annular seal is within the outer body bore, is coupled with the tubular outer body and has a generally radial sealing surface sealingly engageable with the inner body contact surface.

  • Patent number: 10385921
Abstract: A combination bearing and seal assembly includes a tubular inner body disposable about a shaft so rotate about an axis and has a first outer circumferential surface section providing an inner bearing race and a second outer circumferential surface section spaced axially from the first surface section and providing a seal engagement surface. A tubular outer body is disposed about the inner body and has an inner circumferential surface section providing a bearing outer race and rolling elements are disposed between the two races to form a bearing. A seal member(s) form an annular seal between the inner and outer bodies and is spaced axially from the bearing. The seal member(s) have inner sealing surface(s) engageable with the inner body engagement surface when the inner body is generally stationary and the seal is configured to displace radially outwardly from the engagement surface when the inner body rotates about the axis.

  • Publication number: 20080004838
Abstract: A system for planning and supporting a testing routine in a fluidic chamber, such as a wind tunnel, including a controller for downloading first data related to one or more fluidic chambers, the first data including cost and run-time information for each of the one or more fluidic chambers, comparing the first data to second data corresponding to predetermined constraints, determining one or more run plans based upon the comparison, selecting an optimized run plan from the one or more run plans according to cost and time constraints, and displaying the optimized run plan. Thereafter, when obtaining substantially real-time data during an aerodynamic test, the controller compares the test data to one or more predetermined threshold values, determines whether the test data corresponds with the one or more predetermined threshold values during a corresponding test, and informs of the result of the determination during the test so that a run can be repeated if necessary during the test.

  • Patent number: 5710380
Abstract: An energy-efficient, miniature, hot sensor anemometer designed for battery operation, including an hot airflow sensor, exposed omnidirectionally to the ambient air, for measuring speed of airflow. The anemometer is a subsystem incorporated in a miniature, self-contained environmental monitor. The sensor's electrical resistance changes in relation to the sensor's temperature, and is a function of the ambient air temperature and the speed of airflow to which said sensor is exposed. The anemometer operates in a cyclic mode such that said sensor is preheated, by passing electrical current pulses through it, to a first temperature value above the ambient air temperature, the electrical current flow through said sensor is then terminated, and the sensor, exposed to the airflow, is allowed to cool. The electrical resistance of the sensor changes in response to the cooling of the sensor through convection transfer of its heat to the moving air molecules.

  • Patent number: RE49947
Abstract: A system for supplying hydrogen gas to a lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicle includes a manifold having multiple vessels. Each vessel has a first chamber that is separated from a second chamber by a barrier. A trigger assembly integrated with the barrier allows a liquid to be combined with a reactant and a catalyst in the second chamber to form a chemical reaction to generate hydrogen gas. A pressure relief valve located on each vessel opens to allow the hydrogen gas to exit when a predetermined pressure is reached, and the hydrogen gas is supplied to the LTA vehicle connected to the manifold.
