  • Publication number: 20080049432
Abstract: A method that redistributes light from a light source. The controller can redistribute light to make an irradiance profile of the light source more uniform or make the irradiance profile match a fluid flow profile. The irradiance profile may be controlled by modifying light leakage from a plurality of waveguides or changing the light-directing properties of reflectors and/or lenses.

  • Publication number: 20050262844
Abstract: A gas turbine combustion liner is disclosed having an alternate interface region between it and a transition duct where the cooling effectiveness and heat transfer along the aft end of the combustion liner is improved, resulting in extended component life. The region of the combustion liner proximate its second end comprises a plurality of first feed holes, a plurality of spring seals that seal against a transition duct, a cooling ring having a plurality of second feed holes, that with the first feed holes pass a cooling fluid into an annulus formed between the cooling ring and combustion liner. The cooling fluid passes over a means for augmenting the heat transfer proximate the combustion liner second end, wherein the heat transfer augmentation preferably comprises a plurality of raised ridges that increases the surface area of the outer liner wall to turbulate the cooling fluid and maximize the cooling effectiveness.

  • Publication number: 20050061656
Abstract: A lamp including a reflective portion is utilized in a fluid purification system to maximize the light delivery to a photocatalytic coating that oxidizes gaseous contaminants that adsorb onto the surface to form carbon dioxide, water, and other substances. An ultraviolet light source positioned proximate to the honeycomb activates the titanium dioxide coating. In one example, the reflective portion is a reflective coating. Light directed out of the non-reflective portion of the lamp travels towards the honeycomb and absorbs onto the photocatalytic coating. Light directed towards the reflective portion on the lamp is reflected off the surface of the reflective portion and passes through the non-reflective portion of the lamp to also absorb onto the photocatalytic coating. The reflective portion reflects light towards the honeycomb that would otherwise be misdirected away from the honeycomb, increasing efficiency of the fluid purification system.

  • Publication number: 20030172082
Abstract: A method and system is provided that facilitates the access of stored action item information that is the product of an organizational review process. An action item tracking system provides categories of information relating to action items. Custom queries may be created to search for information stored in the action item tracking system. The custom queries may be generated using provided query creation options. The action item tracking system executes the custom queries in order to generate reports containing action item information. The reports are displayed to the user. The custom queries may be executed repeatedly at a frequency provided by the user so that new reports are created as information in the action item tracking system is periodically updated. Operations on report attributes may also be executed to obtain a result, and indications of whether the result falls outside of specified limits may be provided.

  • Patent number: 6547256
Abstract: A seal assembly including a low flow cloth ring seal having a cloth assemblage is provided for sealing a tubular cavity disposed between a tubular member and a mating body. The density of the cloth assemblage may be set according to a desired flow rate of gas through the cloth ring seal. In applications where more stiffness and strength is desired, the cloth ring seal may include a shim assemblage surrounded by the cloth assemblage.
