  • Patent number: 8719311
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product, for generating a framework for supporting a homogeneous view of an information collection managed in a heterogeneous system of information storage sources. The framework includes an information collection data model mapped to an information source data model, and an information storage services data model mapped to the information source data model. The information collection data model defines information to be collected and stored as an information collection in one or more information storage sources. The information source data model references data sets containing the information defined in the information collection data model. The information storage services data model defines information storage services for accessing and performing operations on the one or more information storage sources storing the information collection.

  • Publication number: 20130160022
Abstract: A computer receives a transaction request that includes information identifying computer resource requirements for the transaction, a resource policy, and a transaction failure policy. The computer determines if sufficient computer resources are available to complete the transaction request based on the received information identifying resource requirements for the transaction. If there are not sufficient computer resources available to complete the transaction request, the computer applies the resource policy to the transaction request and processes the transaction request. If the processed transaction request fails to complete successfully, the computer applies the transaction failure policy to the processed transaction request.

  • Patent number: 7660702
Abstract: The present invention provides a means of monitoring the progress of an IT implementation of a process or activity through a defined set of situation types and event objects corresponding to said situation types whereby, if the IT implementation of the process or activity is changed, provided the event objects corresponding to the defined situation types are still generated by the new IT implementation or are able to be derived from the new IT implementation through mapping and/or the instrumentation of new events, the monitor is able to receive or retrieve said event objects and thus perform its monitoring function. This has the advantage of de-coupling the monitor from the specific IT implementation of the process or activity and thus allows a generic monitoring solution to be provided.

  • Publication number: 20080270212
Abstract: A method, apparatus and software is disclosed for managing a data processing process in the form of a workflow, where activities in the workflow can use services or sub-processes to complete their task. A policy is associated with such activities to indicate how the data processing process should manage the situation where an activity's performance is not acceptable. This includes a policy for replacing or substituting the service or sub-process.

  • Publication number: 20040025157
Abstract: Provided are methods and computer programs for managing installation of a set of data processing components. An installation manager program allows users to specify which of a set of predefined functional roles are to be implemented on which of their data processing systems and then the installation program automates installation of the set of data processing components which correspond to the specified roles.
