Abstract: Described herein is a method and system for facilitating power management in a communications system. The communications system includes a server and one or more communications devices operably coupled to a network, each communications device being operable to enter a low power state in response to a “hibernate” command. The “hibernate” command may be provided by a power management unit in the server in response to, for example, a change in routing preference, location or availability status of the user.

Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a telephone routing system; and a presence database manager unit operably coupled to the routing system and adapted to maintain one or more watcher lists of registered users. The routing system is adapted to receive phone calls and provide an indication to the presence database manager unit whether the phone calls originate from registered users. The presence database manager unit is adapted to determine if such a user has a watcher list and transmit an indication to parties associated with the watcher list that said user is present.

Abstract: A method for providing a stateless Session Interface Protocol (SIP) back to back user agent (B2BUA) comprising receiving a SIP message and determining if the SIP message is a SIP request. The SIP request further comprises a request to create an original SIP dialog or a request for an existing SIP dialog. Method further comprises determining if the SIP message is a SIP response. The SIP response may further comprise a provisional SIP response or a final SIP response. Method is suitable for transforming the SIP request, transforming the SIP response, transmitting the transformed SIP request to a new destination, and transmitting the transformed SIP response to a request originator.

Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a cellular telephone equipped with a global positioning utility for receiving global positioning samples. The cellular telephone periodically transmits received samples to a location client application running on a computer that also includes a unified communication client suite. The location client application derives a location confidence factor from the samples. The confidence factor is provided to a presence and availability service. Incoming calls and/or notifications can be routed to a user based on the confidence factor.

Abstract: A presence management system allows or blocks access to presence information at a group-level. A subscriber assigns contacts to groups and sets presence access parameters for the groups. In response to a request for the presence information, the presence management system determines a contact group assigned to the requester and checks the group access parameter. Access is allowed or blocked based on the group access parameter and based on overriding access parameters that may be established in the presence management system.

Abstract: An outcalling system considers subscriber presence information in determining when to initiate attempts to deliver messages to the subscriber. The subscriber presence state may provide insight into the likelihood of successful message delivery. The outcalling system may decide to initiate or may forgo initiation of a delivery attempt based in part on the subscriber presence state.

Abstract: A voice message system utilizes presence status information obtained from a presence server in playing inbox greeting to incoming callers. The presence status can indicate the actual presence or availability of the called user and is thus dynamic in nature. By using a voice message system to reflect and relay the presence status, the presence status information can be heard by those devices which do not have the capability to display presence information.
