  • Publication number: 20220018306
Abstract: A cylinder bore liner insert configured to be cast in an internal combustion engine block includes an additive manufactured liner wall formed during an additive manufacturing process and having an inner surface, an outer surface, and an upper surface configured to be operably associated with a cylinder head, wherein the inner surface at least partially defines a cylinder bore configured to receive a piston therein. A liner water jacket is defined internally within the additive manufactured liner wall during the additive manufacturing process. The liner water jacket at least partially surrounds the cylinder bore to provide cooling thereto via a flow of coolant within the liner water jacket. A plurality of coolant ports are formed in the upper surface and configured to enable flow of coolant between the liner water jacket and the cylinder head.

  • Publication number: 20210010412
Abstract: A cylinder head assembly for an internal combustion engine includes a cast cylinder head having at least one oil gallery, a turbocharger housing integrally cast with the cylinder head, and a turbocharger cartridge assembly configured to be inserted into the turbocharger housing and including at least one bearing rotatably supporting a shaft coupled between a compressor wheel and a turbine wheel. A lubricant supply system having a lubricant passage formed within the turbocharger housing is configured to supply oil from the at least one oil gallery to the turbocharger cartridge assembly to lubricate the at least one bearing.

  • Publication number: 20120116627
Abstract: An electric drive system includes a fuel-driven engine (202) driving an electrical power generator (204) that provides power to one or more electric drive motors (210). A method of load management in the electric drive system includes receiving an actual fuel signal, an engine speed (920) signal, a throttle position signal, a motor speed (712) signal, an intake air pressure, a barometric pressure signal, and an intake air temperature signal. These values are used to determine a torque limit. The torque limit is used to limit a torque command to the electric drive motors (210) such that the torque command is consistent with the operating capabilities of the engine (202).
