  • Patent number: 10449391
Abstract: Systems comprising a processor in electrical communication with a tangible, non-transitory memory that, in response to an execution by the processor, cause the processor to measure a relative biological effectiveness of a beam on a region of a human body, and a beam applicator in electrical communication with the processor, wherein a characteristic of the beam can be adjusted based on the measured relative biological effectiveness are disclosed. Methods of treatment comprising measuring, by a processor capable of detecting potential biological hot spots, a relative biological effectiveness of a beam on a region of a human body, designing a beam therapy treatment plan based on the measured relative biological effectiveness, and applying a beam to a patient with a region in need of beam therapy with a beam applicator in electrical communication with the processor capable of detecting potential biological hot spots are also disclosed.
