  • Patent number: 10516872
Abstract: An apparatus includes a memory storing a digital envelope and a wavefront demultiplexing (WFD) device which receives M input streams concurrently, M being an integer greater than 1, performs a WFD transformation on the M input streams, and generates M output streams concurrently. A first input stream includes wavefront multiplexed digital identifiers for digital right management. A second input stream is the digital envelope. The first input stream presented in a digital format appears to human perception as having identical features to the digital envelope presented in the digital format. Each output stream is a linear combination of the M input streams such that the digital identifiers are recovered from at least one of the M output streams. The digital envelope is a data file used by a sender to send the M input streams and is scaled with a magnification factor greater than 1 in the WFD transformation.

  • Patent number: 10289856
Abstract: Multiple data sets are preprocessed by WF muxing before stored/transported. WF muxed data is aggregated data from multiple data sets. The original data is reassembled via WF demuxing after retrieving a lesser but scalable number of WF muxed data sets. A customized set of WF muxing on multiple digital files as inputs including at least a data message file and a selected digital envelop file, is configured to guarantee at least one of the multiple outputs comprising a weighted sum of all inputs with an appearance to human natural sensors substantially identical to the appearance of the selected digital envelop in a same image, video or audio format. The output file is the file with enveloped or embedded messages. The embedded message may be reconstituted by a corresponding WF demuxing processor at destination with the known a priori information of the original digital envelope.

  • Publication number: 20150040184
Abstract: Data files with digital envelops are used (1) for embedded identifiers for digital right management (DRM), and (2) as means delivering additional data or new information via repeated re-broadcasting process by many broadcasting service providers. The new DRM applications offer additional privacy and survivability while data is in storage and/or transported on cloud. Wavefront multiplexing/demultiplexing process (WF muxing/demuxing) embodying an architecture that utilizes multi-dimensional waveforms has found applications in data storage and transport on cloud. Multiple data sets are preprocessed by WF muxing before stored/transported. WF muxed data is aggregated data from multiple data sets that have been “customized processed” and disassembled into any scalable number of sets of processed data, with each set being stored on a storage site. The original data is reassembled via WF demuxing after retrieving a lesser but scalable number of WF muxed data sets.

  • Patent number: 6692647
Abstract: A beaded light dispersing film has a substrate layer, and an optically transparent layer, having a predetermined thickness, disposed over a side of the substrate layer. Optically transmitting beads are arranged to penetrate at least partially into the transparent layer to define clear apertures at interfaces between the beads and the transparent layer. The bead radius is greater than the predetermined thickness. An absorbing layer is disposed on the transparent layer, in interstices between the beads. A method of manufacturing the film includes disposing optically transparent beads partially in an optically transparent layer disposed over a transparent substrate layer. The optically transparent layer has a thickness less than half a diameter of a transparent bead. An absorbing layer overlies the optically transparent layer.

  • Patent number: 6515798
Abstract: A rear projection screen assembly is described that includes a diffuser and a polarizer. The diffuser has particles dispersed within a binder. The particles and the binder have different refractive indices and are chosen such that the diffuser spreads light of an initial polarization state a cone of angles while substantially preserving the initial polarization state of the light. The diffuser also substantially depolarizing a portion of the light that is laterally scattered in the diffuser. The polarizer is disposed to receive light transmitted through the diffuser. The polarizer transmits light of the initial polarization state while absorbing a portion of the laterally scattered light that has a different polarization state. The resolution of the overall screen assembly may be made higher while also improving other characteristics of the screen assembly.

  • Publication number: 20010010884
Abstract: An improved electronic display that includes components selected to enhance display performance. The improved display includes an active substrate that has a plurality of thin film transistors and a plurality of thermally transferred color filters that include a colorant in a crosslinked binder. The active substrate can also include a black matrix. Other components in the improved display such as a liquid crystal material, spacers, and bottom polarizer, can be selected to enhance display performance characteristics such as brightness, power consumption, response time, weight, and thickness. The invention also provides a method of forming a color filter substrate for displays including the steps of thermally mass transferring a plurality of color filters and crosslinking the plurality of color filters after transfer. Before the crosslinking step, the plurality of color filters can be inspected and removed for reworking of the substrate.
