  • Patent number: 5402635
Abstract: The current invention concerns a combustor having a coupling for a cross-flame tube. The coupling has inner and outer sleeves that form an annular passage therebetween. Holes in the outer sleeve place the annular passage in flow communication with cooling air in the combustion system chamber, thereby causing the cooling air to flow over the proximal end of the outer sleeve. A baffle is formed on the inner sleeve and has a pattern of raised and depressed areas. The raised areas form lands that are attached to the combustor wall. The depressed areas form passages with the wall that direct the cooling air from the annular passage so that it flows over the surface of the combustor inner wall, thereby preventing over heating of the wall.

  • Patent number: 5247790
Abstract: A gas turbine fuel nozzle assembly having a replaceable nozzle cap. The nozzle assembly is comprised of a base portion and a nozzle cap. The nozzle base is secured to a combustion system and contains inlet ports for receiving either gas and oil fuel or gas fuel and steam, depending on the nozzle assembly configuration. The nozzle cap has outlet ports for injecting either gas and oil fuel or gas fuel and steam. The nozzle cap is connected to the nozzle base by inner and outer sleeves that form an annular conduit by which the gas flows from an inlet port in the base to an outlet port in the cap. In addition, the inner sleeve, which has an expansion joint formed therein, forms a central cavity that either holds an oil spray nozzle or forms a steam passage, depending on the nozzle assembly configuration. The nozzle cap is detachably coupled to the base by first and second threaded joints formed in the inner and outer sleeves, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5222357
Abstract: In a gas turbine dual fuel nozzle including a main nozzle body with a support flange having a liquid fuel and atomizing air nozzle structure centrally extending therethrough with a fuel and atomizing air discharge structure arranged at its free end and a fuel gas supply structure arranged around the free end of the fuel and atomizing air discharge structure wherein the fuel gas supply structure has a front face extending inwardly adjacent the fuel and atomizing air discharge structure and having a central opening permitting the discharge of liquid fuel and atomizing air therethrough, the front face has bores extending therethrough in radial symmetry in a circular array and radial slots formed therein between said bores and the central opening so as to eliminate hoop stresses in the front face around its central opening.
