  • Publication number: 20170181786
Abstract: A bone cement delivery system including a mixer, a reservoir for holding bone cement, a cannula that is connected to the reservoir and through which the bone cement is delivered into living tissue. A plunger that is advanced by a drive assembly, pushes the bone cement out of the delivery tube into the cannula for discharge from the cannula. A valve is located upstream of the cannula. A control unit regulates both drive assembly and the setting of the valve. The control unit is configured to, when deactivating the valve so as to stop the advancement of the plunger, close the valve. The closing of the valve reduces the extent to which the bone cement, which is under pressure continues to flow into and be discharged out of the cannula.

  • Patent number: 8770426
Abstract: A shock-resistant and environmentally sealed container comprising a first section and a second section. A latching system for the container comprises a deflectable pin coupled to the first section of the container with a latch coupled to the second section. The latch includes a deflectable pin engaging member. When the deflectable pin engaging member is engaged with the deflectable pin, the deflectable pin absorbs relative movement between the first section and the second section of the container. Another embodiment of the container employs a latch containing a deflectable member. The latch is pivotally coupled to a latch pin that is mounted to either the first section or the second section of the container. The deflectable member is positioned between the latch pin and the latch, and the deflectable member is configured to absorb relative movement between the first section and the second section.

  • Patent number: 5464390
Abstract: A tip member is to be fixed adjacent the distal end of the irrigation outlet tube of a surgical irrigation handpiece. The tip member modifies the irrigation liquid flow to direct same forwardly toward a surgical site as multiple, narrow, discrete streams of irrigation liquid. Such streams have length axes which are skewed with respect to each other, so as to cross each other in laterally spaced relation. Such streams angle away from the central axis of the irrigation tube. Such angled, pulsed streams can more easily be directed at an acute angle to a surgical site.

  • Patent number: 5460604
Abstract: A tip member is to be fixed adjacent the distal end of the irrigation outlet tube of a surgical irrigation handpiece. The tip member modifies the irrigation liquid flow to direct same forwardly toward a surgical site as a hollow, divergent, substantially circumferentially continuous, generally funnel-shaped wash of irrigation liquid and thereby for wetting substantially the perimeter of a circle, rather than the center of such circle, on the surgical site, at a given instant.
