Patent number: 10230220Abstract: A motor control unit (MCU) and methods of operating the same are provided. The MCU includes a housing enclosing a retractable stab assembly (RSA) having stabs attached thereto. The MCU further includes a bracket assembly having a mount for securing the bracket assembly to the RSA, guiderails for slideably engaging the RSA to facilitate the extending and retracting motion, and a lead screw accessible via an opening in the front of the housing. Rotating the lead screw causes the RSA to extend and retract which engages and disengages the stabs. The MCU also includes a motor assembly having a drive motor coupled to a drive shaft. The motor rotates the shaft in response to control signals from a remote-device. The motor assembly attaches to the housing such that the rotation of the shaft in response to the signals rotates the lead screw to engage and disengage the stabs.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2016Date of Patent: March 12, 2019Assignee: SIEMENS INDUSTRY, INC.Inventors: Ali Ali, John Kaminski, Jeffrey D. Lord, Ajit Pharne

Patent number: 9271421Abstract: The arc-resistant MCC is provided with either the expansion chamber or the plenum. Arc flashes create pressure. Different arc-resistant MCC bases are used depending on whether the expansion chamber or the plenum is to be attached, as the expansion chamber and the plenum deal with the created pressure in different ways and are accordingly attached to the MCC base in different ways.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2013Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: SIEMENS INDUSTRY, INC.Inventors: Ajit Pharne, Pablo A. Medina Rios, Reid Barkley, John Kaminski, Jeffrey D. Lord, Felix Galvan

Patent number: 8279574Abstract: An emergency lighting system comprising an electrical panel board comprising a two-pole switched breaker with one pole controlled using an Emergency Remote Operated Relay. Each of the poles of the circuit breaker is fed by a single phase. The controlled pole feeds normal power to the lighting ballast operating under normal conditions. The non-controlled pole feeds constant power to at least one battery which provides back-up power to the light(s) in an emergency/power failed condition. The Emergency Remote Operated Relay further comprises a two pole circuit breaker (BQD 2P) with one of the poles connected to a Remote Operated Relay that is remotely controllable.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2009Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Siemens Industry, Inc.Inventors: William O. Scoggins, Jr., David A. Bradley, Kevin S. Koder, Jeffrey D. Lord, Seshagiri R. Marellapudi, Michael J. Mennes, Ronnie H. Ridgeway

Patent number: 5805041Abstract: A field-installable circuit breaker trip actuator unit includes a flux shifter unit that interfaces with the circuit breaker operating mechanism and is installable without dismantling the circuit breaker components. The flux shifter unit responds to an electronic trip unit to articulate the circuit breaker operating mechanism and separate the circuit breaker contacts upon occurrence of an overcurrent condition. A reset arrangement allows the trip actuator unit to be automatically reset upon completion of the contact separation process.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1996Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Roger N. Castonguay, Jeffrey D. Lord
