  • Patent number: 9250097
Abstract: A navigation system includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled wireless phone and a GPS navigation system. The GPS enabled wireless phone includes a GPS receiver, a communications interface, and processing circuitry coupled to the GPS receiver and to the communications interface. The GPS navigation system includes a GPS receiver, a communications interface operable to communicatively couple to the communications interface of the GPS enabled wireless phone, and processing circuitry coupled to the GPS receiver and to the communications interface. The processing circuitry of the GPS navigation system is operable to establish device pairing with the GPS enabled wireless phone and to exchange GPS information and other information with the GPS enabled wireless phone via the secure link.

  • Publication number: 20130086164
Abstract: A technique to identify vehicles proximal in distance to a user's vehicle travelling on a road, transmit wirelessly to the vehicles an inquiry to attempt to communicate with one of the vehicles and when a response is received in the affirmative from an intended target vehicle, adding the intended target vehicle to a social networking group. The user then establishes a wireless communication link between the user's vehicle and the responding target vehicle to conduct vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communication between the user and an occupant in the responding target vehicle. Subsequently, other vehicles may be added to the social networking group to provide a platform for conducting conversations and information exchange among the social networking group.

  • Publication number: 20080228400
Abstract: There is provided a highway safety system for use by a vehicle for detecting a lane boundary defined by a plurality of markers, wherein each of the plurality of markers has an associated identifier. The highway safety system comprises a detection module configured to detect the associated identifier in each of the plurality of markers defining the lane boundary, wherein the detection module is further configured to receive marker detection data from the associated identifier in each of the plurality of markers defining the lane boundary. The highway safety system further comprises an alarm module for determining an alarm condition based on marker detection data provided by the detection module, wherein the alarm module is configured to generate an alert according to the alarm condition. For example, each of the plurality of markers may be a raised pavement marker, and the associated identifier may be an RFID tag.
