  • Patent number: 11020149
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for use in spinal surgeries. The system may include a fastener system comprising a fastener, a staple, and a locking cap. A cord may extend along the spine and through at least one fastener system. An instrument may be provided for tensioning the cord. The system may, for example, apply fixation on the convexity of the scoliotic vertebrae to limit growth on the convex side and allow unilateral growth on the concave side.

  • Publication number: 20210077260
Abstract: The invention herein described is an endoprosthesis intended to replace a resected portion of bone and joint. The invention can be non-invasively, manually operated to lengthen a patient's limb both intraoperatively and postoperatively. It includes bone anchoring means for anchoring to a first and second bone, a joint to replace the function of an orthopaedic joint, and a purely mechanical lengthening mechanism which can be located and operated manually by an operator by pressing on the patient's skin without requiring a surgical incision. An alternative embodiment of the invention describes a similar extendable endoprosthesis which is unlocked by an operator by pressing on the patient's skin and the limb is subsequently pulled or pushed by the operator to change its length. The invention does not need or include any magnets, electric motors, or a fluid displacement (hydraulic) system.

  • Patent number: 9949759
Abstract: A growing rod adapted to be secured along a length of a spine for treating deformities of the spine. The growing rod comprises a base rod, an extendable rod having a proximal portion that is slidably coupled to the base rod and arranged with a gear rack, and a distraction unit. The distraction unit includes a housing attached to the base rod, a rotatable drive interface accessible by an external driver from outside of the housing, and a drive gear mechanism housed within the housing and coupled to the rotatable drive interface and the gear rack such that rotation of the rotatable drive interface causes linear movement of the extendable rod through the gear rack.
