  • Patent number: 8020769
Abstract: A target acquisition system. The novel system includes a housing, a first mechanism for obtaining position coordinates of the housing, a second mechanism for measuring a pointing angle from the housing toward a target, and a third mechanism for calculating coordinates of the target using the pointing angle and housing coordinates. The system may also include a fourth mechanism for determining a distance between the housing and the target, and a control circuit for receiving a user signal and in response thereto acquiring the housing coordinates, pointing angle, and distance data. The target coordinates may be calculated from the housing coordinates, pointing angle, and distance data, or from two or more sets of position coordinates and corresponding pointing angle data. The system may also include a transmitter for automatically transmitting the target coordinates to a remote weapons system or network.

  • Patent number: 5808578
Abstract: A method for calibrating the radar system includes the steps of: replacing stored statistically generated "average" error correction coefficients with error correction coefficients personal to a missile under test. More particularly, stored in the missile's memory are: (a) first personalized error correction coefficients generated in response to test signals produced internal to the missile and injected into a monopulse arithmetic unit for the missile's receiver/processor; and (b) a second set of personalized error coefficients generated in response to test signals external to the missile and injected through the missile's antenna to the receiver/processor. The missile includes a radio frequency (R.F.) energy test signal generator for performing a test during the missile's flight to determine "in-flight" personalized error correction coefficients. The test is performed in-flight by injecting the R.F.

  • Patent number: 5610613
Abstract: A system for obtaining digitized samples of an analog signal at a selectable rate, R. The system includes: a timing generator for producing a train of sampling pulses at a predetermined sampling rate, f.sub.s ; an analog to digital converter for producing a digitized sample of the analog signal in response to each one of the sampling pulses; a processor; and, a selector, for passing each Nth one of the digitized samples produced by the analog to digital converter, where N=f.sub.s /R to the processor. The selector includes a decimator, responsive to a signal, N=f.sub.s /R, representative of the ratio of the sampling rate, f.sub.s, to the digitized signal obtaining rate, R, for producing pulses at the rate, R=f.sub.s /N; and, a register for storing each Nth one of the digitized samples produced by the analog to digital converter, each one of such digitized samples being stored in response to a corresponding one of the pulses produced by the decimator.
