The vaccine can be made of DNA segments, RNA segments, messenger RNA live virus, or attenuated virus. The unit dosage can be about 20 to 70 microliters. The vaccine is suspended in a solution which closely matches the ocular tear film in terms of pH, osmolality and can be non-preserved and viscous. The pharmaceutical composition is delivered to the surface of the eye in sequential doses over a predetermined period of time to provide a total dosage for providing the vaccine to the patient.

Another second sensor comprises a force detector to determine the force applied by the eye surface when contacted by the sensing section. A microprocessor can receive essentially simultaneous input from the two sensors and/or in conjunction with two sensors can output time-tagged data that can be correlated to determine measured contact surface area and applied force at any given time. Data taken at various frequencies over a time period can be interpolated and/or extrapolated to facilitate correlation of measurements.
