Patent number: 11724085Abstract: Systems and methods of disinfection of catheter connections are provided. A transfer catheter connector can include a UV-transparent window at its distal end and a sealing plunger proximal to the UV-transparent window. A solution set connector can be inserted inside a portion of the transfer catheter connector to connect a solution set and transfer catheter. The solution set connector comprises a lumen covered by a leading membrane surface; a sealing surface configured to sealingly engage the window surface, and a piercing member configured to pierce the membrane surface. The sealing plunger, membrane surface, and window define a disinfection zone. The connectors can be connected in a disinfection position configuration in which flow is not permitted between the catheters and the connectors are irradiated with UV light. After disinfection, the connectors are advanced to a flow position in which the piercing member pierces the membrane surface, enabling flow between the catheters.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2021Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Assignee: PURACATH MEDICAL, INC.Inventors: Justin A. Publication number: 20210346143Abstract: A container for a medical device having a housing defining a cavity for receiving the device, a coupling zone external to the cavity, and an exit aperture between the cavity and the coupling zone; and a bearing surface located within the cavity, the bearing surface, exit aperture and coupling zone defining an exit path along which the device can be moved for deployment from the container. The bearing surface is spaced from the exit aperture and arranged, together with the coupling zone, such that the exit path is substantially straight. The cavity is approximately cylindrical, and the bearing surface, the exit aperture, and the coupling zone are aligned such that the exit path extends in a direction that is substantially tangential to the cavity. The housing comprises a two part structure joined together in a plane substantially orthogonal to the exit path. The housing defines a substantially unobstructed cavity for receiving the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2017Publication date: November 11, 2021Applicant: PneumRx, Inc.Inventors: David Lehrberg, Mark Mathis, Jeffrey Etter, Verna Rodriguez
