    Abstract: Substrates such as tissue and nonwovens have an additive composition applied topically thereto. The additive composition, for instance, comprises a frothed aqueous dispersion or solution which is topically applied to the web through a creping process after the web has been formed. The additive composition may be applied in-line to the web as a creping adhesive during a creping operation. In the alternative, the additive composition may be added in an off-line converting process that crepes a dry pre-formed substrate material. The additive composition may improve bulk and softness of the tissue.
