  • Patent number: 10418770
Abstract: The present invention is an electrical slip ring device comprised of a stator, a rotor and an independent rotationally free brush ring. The brush ring may include a multitude of slipping fingers, chevrons or other current carrying structures that extend between the rotor and the stator. These current carrying structures have a directional bias or “lay”. The rotational freedom of the brush ring enables bi-directional movement of the rotor with reduced torque and wear at the sliding interfaces because sliding always occurs in the direction of the lay.

Assignee: BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P.

  • Patent number: 5773747
Abstract: This invention relates to a material handling system. More particularly, the invention pertains to the method and apparatus for automatically loading a two-piece ammunition into a gun tube. A continuous rammer mechanism having a plurality of strategically spaced pawls is structured to accelerate the two-piece ammunition into the gun tube. The system compensates for different angles of gun trajectory by adjusting the speed and output of a drive motor to thereby provide a consistent ramming acceleration of the ammunition.

  • Patent number: 5440966
Abstract: A material hand-off mechanism and process which utilizes a pendulating arm to deliver material to and or accept it from a load station which cooperatively engages the arm. The load station and the arm provide interceptive, interactive and linkless conveyance capable of independent and parallel operations to enhance efficiency and availability of the system. Particularly, the mechanism is suited to transfer ammunition from a storage station into a gun tube. The ammunition is rammed into the gun breech using a flick ram mechanism, which operates in cooperation with the arm, and enables a sure ram of ammunition comprising different modules.
