  • Publication number: 20150305236
Abstract: A rock guard for use on a rotary disc cutterbar having quick-release knife connectors wherein a knife removal relief channel is oriented 45 degrees from a straight-ahead orientation to allow more than one quarter of the knives on the cutterbar to be simultaneously aligned with the channels for removal. A second knife removal channel is also oriented 45 degrees from the straight ahead orientation and 90 degrees from the first channel to permit half of the knives on the cutterbar to be simultaneously aligned with the channels for removal. The incorporation of two knife removal channels as described benefits rotary cutterbars having two knives per rotary cutter and adjacent cutters rotationally offset by 90 degrees regardless of whether co-rotating or counter-rotating rotary cutters are employed.

  • Publication number: 20150305235
Abstract: A quick-release knife connector for use on a rotary disc cutterhead having an asymmetrically shaped knife nut with a first portion providing a bearing surface for an aperture in the knife and a second portion which inhibits axial movement of the knife from contact with the first portion. A capture spring having an aperture for partially receiving the second portion prevents accidental release of the knife. The asymmetric orientation of the second portion and placement of the aperture on the capture spring assures that the knife nut is properly oriented when installed.

  • Publication number: 20140357446
Abstract: A steering system for a differential steered self-propelled agricultural windrower, windrower speed and direction controlled by adjusting the pivotal position of rotatable pintel arms to control the output of a pair of tandem-mounted hydraulic drive pumps and provide motive power for the windrower. A control input shaft that is both rotatable and axially moveable manages the relative positioning of the pintel arms. A hydraulic steering motor is operably connected to the input shaft. Rotation of the hydraulic steering motor is managed by a steering control valve attached to a cab-mounted windrower steering wheel.

  • Publication number: 20140318098
Abstract: A wheel lift assembly lockout mechanism for an agricultural mower having a lift cylinder for moving the mower frame between raised and lowered positions. The lockout mechanism is positioned adjacent to a rod end of a lift cylinder and is pivotable between generally opposing lockout and free positions. First and second stops interact with the lift cylinder depending upon the position of the lockout mechanism to provide at least two stop positions allowing minimum mower heights in each stop position to be established. The lockout mechanism further includes a bias apparatus and a lockout limiter to enable a specific lockout height to be imposed with minimal impact other operational aspects of the wheel lift assembly.

  • Publication number: 20140126952
Abstract: A quick-release knife connector for use on a rotary disc cutterhead having a shaped knife nut with a first portion providing a bearing surface for an aperture in the knife and a second portion which inhibits axial movement of the knife from contact with the first portion. A based capture element normally retains the knife in position on the first portion of the bearing surface. The second portion of the bearing surface is provided to minimize axial movement of the knife in the event of unintentional release of the capture element. The connector is configured to allow allows installation and removal of knives using simple tools for the task.

  • Publication number: 20140083071
Abstract: A system for positioning crop windrow guide shields projecting generally rearwardly alongside the crop discharge stream as it exits an agricultural mower. The shields are coupled for simultaneous, coordinated movement and repositioned by a powered actuator in response to either a manual input by a vehicle operator or automatically by a controller based on a steering angle deflection between a tractor and a towed implement. The system may be adapted for use with a single implement being operated on a side hill to control windrow drifting. The system may also be used with simultaneously operated front-mounted and pull-behind mowers to direct the crop discharge streams into a merged windrow.

  • Publication number: 20130055546
Abstract: A quick connect apparatus for connecting a knife to a rotary disc cutterhead comprising a spring-loaded connector and a locking device which, when installed, prevents unintentional release of the knife from the cutterhead. The quick connector with locking device replaces a conventional bolted connection and reduces the time necessary to remove and reinstall a knife on a rotary cutterhead compared to a bolted knife connector while improving knife retention compared to known quick-change knife connection mechanisms.
