    Abstract: An anti-theft box which displays an article in a manner which allows a consumer to handle the article without removing it from the box, and which deters theft of the article and/or box is disclosed. The anti-theft box includes a base for supporting the article, and a cover which engages and is lockable with the base. The article is visible through the cover, and an opening in the cover allows a consumer to touch the article without opening the cover or removing the article. In addition, the base includes a locking mechanism in order to normally lock the cover to the base so that it cannot be readily disengaged by the consumer. A retailer can readily engage the base, for example with a key plate, in order to easily open the cover. In one embodiment, an EAS marker is also supported within the base, preferably hidden from the consumer.

    Abstract: An anti-theft security tag includes an engagement member having a first and second end securable within a housing by a crimping member for attachment to an article. In one embodiment, the housing supports an electronic article surveillance marker and may include a channel for receiving and securing at least one self crimping member. The self crimping member is sized to receive one end of the engagement member. The one or more crimping members may be disc shaped, including a plurality of fingers for securing one end of the engagement member, or may have a variety of other shapes. The self crimping members allow the engagement member to be moved downward, but not upward, so as to make the engagement loop smaller. In another embodiment, the crimping member is manual and a slot is disposed within the housing in alignment with the at least one crimping member, and is sized to receive a crimping tool to crimp the member and secure the line to the article within the housing.

    Abstract: An anti-theft security tag includes an engagement member and a housing for supporting an electronic article surveillance (EAS) marker. The housing includes a rotating inner core for supporting the engagement member for attachment to the article. The engagement member includes a line for connection to the article and a locking mechanism for securing the first and second ends of the line therein so that the core and the engagement member can rotate together within the housing. In one embodiment, the locking mechanism includes one or more self-crimping members which automatically secure at least one end of the line upon insertion therein. One end of the rotating core may be disposed flush with one end of the housing, so that the consumer cannot twist the line in order to remove the tag.

    Abstract: An anti-theft display hanger includes a body portion having at a first member including at least one recess for supporting an electronic article surveillance sensor, and a second member designed to overlay the first member. The EAS sensor is preferably supported within the recess of the first member such that it is substantially co-planar with or below an inside surface of the first member. The body portion is preferably folded such that the second member at least partially overlays the first member. The first and second members are preferably connected by a bridge for supporting an article. In one embodiment, the bridge forms a planar surface for supporting the article, for example a necklace, when the second member overlays the first. An engagement member may also be provided for supporting the hanger on a display.

    Abstract: A hanger having a novel construction including an engagement member, a foldable body portion having an upper end with a pair of continuous locking openings, and a lower or tail end with a two prong locking member which engages the locking openings in a secured or closed position is disclosed. In one embodiment, the prongs of the locking member include a tapered head having a locking projection that engages a rear planar surface of the body portion, between the locking openings, in order to discourage removal of the locking member from the locking openings in use. The combination of these features allows the belt hanger to be readily assembled, tamper resistant after assembly, and aesthetically pleasing.

    Abstract: An anti-theft tag including a body portion having at least a first member for supporting an electronic article surveillance marker, and a second member including an opening for receiving at least a portion of the EAS marker there through is provided. The EAS marker is preferably supported on an inner surface of the first member and is sized to fit within the opening in the assembled position. The body portion is preferably folded such that the second member at least partially overlays the first member and the EAS marker is received within the opening in the assembled position. A pre-formed fold line may be disposed between the first and second member in order to facilitate folding of the body portion. In one embodiment, a third member is provided, which may be positioned over the second member such that the EAS marker is sandwiched between the first and the third members.
