  • Publication number: 20090271587
Abstract: What is disclosed is a control system which includes an interface configured to receive a content request from a request source wherein the content request identifies content stored on a storage medium. The control system also includes a processing system coupled to the interface and configured to process the content request to determine when the request source is a valid destination for the content based on a first identifier stored with the content on the storage medium and a second identifier provided with the content request. The interface is further configured to transfer the content to the request source when the request source is a valid destination.

  • Publication number: 20090259914
Abstract: What is disclosed is a method of operating an integrated circuit which includes an input module, an output module, and a processing module coupled to the input module and the output module. The method includes, in the input module, receiving a first data segment; in the processing module, reading a hard coded identifier from an identifier module coupled to the processing module, processing the first data segment with the hard coded identifier to generate a first encoded data segment; and in the output module, transferring the first encoded data segment for storage on a storage system.

  • Patent number: 7571368
Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention, an integrated circuit comprises an input module configured to receive a first data segment, an identifier module having a hard coded identifier, a processing module coupled to the input module and coupled to the identifier module and configured to process the first data segment with the hard coded identifier to generate a first error correction code, and an output module configured to transfer the first error correction code for storage on a storage system.

  • Publication number: 20040085873
Abstract: A mass memory storage device for reading data stored on a mass memory storage medium on which the data is stored at a substantially uniform density including a support arrangement configured to receive and support the medium. A drive arrangement is operatively connected to the support arrangement such that the drive arrangement rotates the medium at a substantially constant rotational speed when the device is operated in its intended way. A read head for reading the data stored on the medium is positioned adjacent to the medium with the read head being movable relative to the medium. A read channel arrangement for processing the data read by the read head is operatively connected to the read head. The read channel arrangement has a substantially continuously variable read channel data processing rate which varies according to the rate at which the read head reads the data from the medium. In a preferred embodiment, the device is a CD drive.

  • Patent number: 5483393
Abstract: A disk drive for use with an embedded head positioning servo system is disclosed. The disk drive includes a disk on the surface of which spaced-apart servo bursts are prerecorded in servo sectors. Successive servo bursts are read by a read/write head which produces oscillating signals having variable magnitude peaks. A timing circuit provides a timing signal, synchronized with the occurrence of the servo sectors, which defines, in time, a servo signal window, during which time a servo burst is being read by the read/write head. A detector circuit measures the magnitudes of each of the peak signals of a servo burst occurring in the servo timing window. The median peak value for a burst is stored, a next burst is detected and measured and the median peak value for that burst is stored. By comparing the median peak magnitudes of successive servo bursts, a servo error signal for use in correcting any error in head position relative to a desired track centerline is produced.
